CAC High School Principal’s Notes

Swim-A-Thon

It was a shorter week at CAC this week, and after the busy few weeks previously, everyone is ready for this short break. I hope you all find some to connect and unwind as a family, wherever you are choosing to spend the holiday weekend.

Conferences and Reports

Quarter 1 Progress Reports were published on Monday and hopefully by now you have been able to locate and review the report with your child. On Monday and Tuesday next week, we are looking forward to welcoming you, either in person or online, for our first round of parent-teacher-student conferences. If you have been unable to secure an appointment with all the teachers you would like to see, please do feel free to email a teacher directly to request an appointment outside of the conference days; all our teachers will happily accommodate these requests.

Counseling Department Announcements

Week of Oct. 20, 2021

Thanks to those who joined us for the City-Wide University Fair this past Monday and Tuesday evening. We hope it was an informative and interactive experience for you!

A reminder about a few more upcoming events:

University of Toronto, Undergraduate Admission – Oct 26th, 7:00-8:00 pm

Each year CAC has several graduates enroll at UToronto. Mr. Chelvarajah from their admission team has offered to meet with just our CAC students and parents on Oct 26th through a zoom call. The purpose of this session will be to highlight several of the programs at UToronto, and to also give updates on their admission process. If you are applying to UToronto this year, don’t miss this session. Please register here for this session here.

The American University in Cairo – Nov 4th, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm

During the HS Lunch hour, members of the admission team from AUC will be visiting CAC. More details about this visit will be sent out in late October.

List of Upcoming University Visits

The counselors receive quite a few invitations to attend online events that universities are hosting. We don’t announce all of these, but we keep track of them on the HS Counseling Resources website. Explore this page to see the dozens of upcoming events you could attend from universities around the world.

Seniors

Document Request Forms (DRFs) After submitting an application to a university, students should download the receipt showing proof that the application has been submitted. This receipt should be turned in to the counseling office with a Document Request Form (DRF) specific to the country applied to, indicating what documents need to be sent by CAC, to where, and how.

This should be done for each and every application that is submitted. Paper copies of the DRF are located outside of the counseling office, and the digital versions in addition to further instructions can be found here. Please contact your counselor if you have any questions.

AIM Survey

CAC have engaged with the National Association of Independent Schools to use their Assessment of Inclusivity and Multi-culturalism to gauge and improve the inclusiveness of our school community for all members.

A component of that process is an anonymous survey, designed and tested by the NAIS, and administered by their organization to ensure security, anonymity, and confidentiality of the information that each respondent shares.

We are asking you to take 15-20 minutes out of your busy schedule to complete this survey by Tuesday, November 2, 2021. You can access the survey by clicking on one of the following links:

1. English Survey
2. Arabic Survey

Below are a few other things to keep in mind as you progress through the survey:

1. The survey can be completed on a laptop, desktop, tablet or smartphone device.
2. You must complete all of the required questions in order to advance through the evaluation. Required questions are marked with a red asterisk.
3. As you move from page to page in the evaluation, please use the Back and Next buttons at the bottom of each survey page.
4. The system will record your response as you advance through the questions. You can leave the survey at any time, and return later to resume your response. Simply click Save and Resume Later.

The system will generate a URL for you to use in returning to the point where you left off and continuing your entry. You can choose to copy that URL and save it, or to have the system e-mail the URL to you.

Thank you for taking the time to complete this very important assignment.

Sincerely,

DEI Design Team
