Earth Day 2022

It was another busy and exciting week on the CAC campus. We saw the first very successful Eco Fair on Wednesday, followed up with a teacher Dunk Tank event at lunchtime today. These events were organized by the Green Team to raise awareness of environmental issues and to showcase some companies here in Maadi that are working in sustainable and environmentally responsible ways to run their businesses.

Our Grade 9s have been working on projects about sustainable energy and other environmental issues in their Science class and these were also showcased at the event yesterday. The students were deeply knowledgeable and passionate about the projects they have researched which ranged from wind energy, hydro-power, electric cars and plastic pollution to name but a few. Our Design Technology students also showcased their work at the DT Exhibition showing their creative solutions to design problems.

Today was the last day of regular classes for our Grade 12 IB students with their examinations beginning next week. We wish them all the very best of luck with these important culminating exams. For the non-IB students, classes continue for a few more weeks before finishing on May 29. And of course, we are all looking forward to this year’s Graduation Ceremony at the Pyramids of Giza on June 3.

This weekend, we are keeping the Skyward gradebook closed to encourage everyone to take some time away from thinking about grades in the hope that students can relax and recharge their batteries (as well as balancing that with some time completing work and studying as needed). The gradebook will open on Tuesday 26 April until Saturday 30 April, close again for the Eid holiday and then open from May 8 to June 5 in the final run up to the end of the year.

Wishing you all a happy and peaceful long weekend; and for those who are celebrating Easter, I wish you a wonderful celebration.
