Protagonist Brainstorm

What does your protagonist want? My protagonist at first lives in this perfect society in which she thinks she is happy, but a mistake from the government will wake her up and start questioning everything in her society. Doing so she  wants to get out of the walls that are surrounding this perfect society, she wants to know what is outside, she wants to explore it. She wants to know what is wrong with the government. She wants to know why the people inside the walls can’t leave. And why the people outside the walls are so “bad”. She is willing to do anything to help free the whole society. Outside of the walls she meets someone who is willing to fight for the same cause, right by her side.
What obstacles stand in your protagonist’s way? The main obstacle the protagonist is going to face is the government head minister. The government has a very strong security system, including guards on every entrance and others checking around the area. While others work through technology, having security cameras checking the whole perimeter. With such measures it will be impossible for her to find her way outside the walls. Though the government doesn’t know she has woken up, which she uses as an advantage.
Specific Characteristics of your protagonist (appearance, special skills/abilities, knowledge) At first a spoiled, rich, obedient, smart, superficial girl, who thinks is perfect at everything she does. After questioning everything she starts to change her way of acting, keeping her profile low, but she now is a rebel, smart, free girl. She has discovered a skill in technology, which can be very helpful with fighting the government. Another of her abilities is convincing people to get in her cause, plus having a intelligence in the academic part.

Mildred’s Role in Fahrenheit 451

In a dystopian society, their is always a strong government. Having strict laws, huge measures of security, controlling the people. Behind all of this there are lies that should never come out doing so the whole society will break. Knowing this is why Mildred is the perfect citizen in a dystopian society. Mildred has never questioned anything in her world, not even thought why the governments take those measures in the society. The idea of why is against the law to read book never crossed her mind or why they burn them. She is so self centered only focused on her, on what she is doing she doesn’t care to even wait and think. Is anything wrong with my society? Which is why she reflects the character of a good dystopian citizen. In her world people don’t really interact with one another, they are always stuck in front of the TV, just like her. Even with the huge chaos that is in front of their eyes they just don’t care, they don’t question it. In which keeps the society intact. Having citizens like Mildred will never destroy this society, lies would never reach the light, because nobody questions the acts of the government. All of this is why Mildred is and why she is the reflection of the perfect dystopian citizen. “And if it was  not the three walls soon to be four walls and the dream complete…” This quote talks about how Mildred has a three wall TV and she wants a four and once she accomplishes that, her dream will come true. You can see how Mildred focuses on things with no sense, her dream is nonsense. It is shown how the average citizen lives are, only their TV and getting more of that is all they care about. Showing how Mildred reflects all the other perfect dystopian citizens in this book.
