Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read our final News and Views for the year. As the school year comes to an end, I wanted to acknowledge the CAC community. It’s been a great year! Together we’ve learned so much and we shared experiences that will long remain with us in the years to come. The strength of our parent community was emphasized this year, proving the resilient nature of our community.

Our teachers were great at problem-solving while working in two systems to continue learning against all odds. This crisis proved to all of us that together we could overcome any obstacle. We had to make changes weekly for the first half of the year. We had to change our phases from 1.5 to phase 2.0 and so on. During that time, you were there with us in full support.

The eighth-graders had a memorable Recognition Night Graduation Ceremony in the outdoor area, under the stars. Thanks to our grade eighth-team leader Ms. Torky. It was a momentous occasion for our students to have their parents in attendance. Years from now, they will remember the kind words said about them.

Closure matters to teachers as well, who signed off on their last report card comments to students and shared final words of wisdom with them, as students had their last class on Wednesday to say goodbye and thank you. The reality is that the foundation we have all been standing on no longer exists. There are no clear answers on how to operate; therefore we are all swimming in a sea of ambiguity.

Special thanks to Tatiana Foda, who served as the MS parent liaison. I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive parents to collaborate with during these challenging times. I enjoyed working in partnership with you in keeping our parents informed. Thank you to the PTO Parents for their generous support as community volunteers. It is your contributions that helped to make a difference in our school community. I’d like to thank Ivana Lawrence, who is stepping down as PTO Chair next year. Her commitment and positive energy were monumental to our success. Thank you, Ivana, for all that you have done for the CAC community over the years.

Thanks to our CAC parents, who have contributed in small, large, and unimaginable ways! Thanks for supporting our mitigation protocols throughout the school year. The partnership between home and school was transcendent.

To our students, I hope you find time this summer to read each day for a minimum of 30 minutes and do some maths as well. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate all students of Cairo American College, and I wish you all a happy, safe, and enjoyable summer.

Thank you for your support of the middle school this year, and we look forward to seeing you all on August 18th.
