Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the news and views. It was a busy week for teachers and students.

Although the accreditation team from MSA and CIS are doing a virtual visit, it doesn’t make it any easier. We started this process during the pandemic, and although it was challenging, we persevered and are in an excellent position to showcase our school. I was impressed with the way our students handled themselves during the interview process. Congrats to Susan Adelakin, Nayer Haggag, Matvey Nikulin, Aisha Faheem, Milan Lambert and Habiba Mekawy.

I want to thank the following parents; Lina Sharkia, Lakesha Davis, Kelly Gilreath, Shereefa Elsawaf, Nina El Shabrawy, and Yara Tatanaki, for meeting with the accreditation team. This was a valuable exercise for parents because they could share their thoughts on areas we could improve as a division.

It is that time of year again when our sixth-graders start fundraising to support African Hope School. The students are raising pledges by participating in several lunchtime activities.

The second progress report card for the semester will be posted today. Teachers will report only on each subject’s Standard and Approaches to Learning. In some cases, but not all, students will receive a Narrative Comment from their teacher. Teachers do not require these comments for progress reports unless students have a Rarely or Not Meeting Standards mark. Please find the time to talk to your child. We want to suggest that you focus on the approaches to learning. We report on these separately and have noticed a trend that students who perform well on their Approaches to Learning generally also do well in the areas of Academic Achievement.

In the classroom, this week our seventh-graders did a presentation on the Amazon Rainforest that was followed by a debate. It was good to listen to students make strong arguments to support their point of view.

Today is the opening night of the middle school play. We hope you purchased your tickets already because the seating is limited due to our mitigation protocols. It promises to be an enjoyable experience.

A reminder that next week we will be doing the general service staff (GSS) appreciation luncheon. Your support will be needed. With the upcoming week being Thanksgiving, what better way to show our appreciation to the GSS staff.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal

Help 2 Causes for the Price of 1
Help 2 Causes for the Price of 1 is a student-led project brought by the HS GISC team. Get your Christmas shopping done early by purchasing cute and trendy items, produced locally by low-income families and small artisans, purchased from the organizations of Tawasol and Neya. All proceeds go towards sponsoring a child’s education at Educate Me. It takes around 7,000 LE for one child’s education, so let’s help as many people as we can! Help support the causes by pre-ordering items from our pre-order form, or pass by one of our booths from December 5th – 9th at the front gate after school, or in front of the library and Coffee Bean during HS lunch. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact 23lahmed@cacegypt.org. We hope to see you at one of our booths!

The deadline to pre-order is the morning (8:00am) of Nov. 27 – The form will be closed by then.
