Thank you for reading this week’s Highro-Glyphics!

We have another busy week ahead:

Principal’s Notes Highlights:

● Skyward openings
● Founders’ Day Assembly
● Pack the Gym
● Progress Reports and Eligibility Determination
● Parent-Teacher conferences
● Second Semester Information
● A few photos from the week

Skyward Openings

The gradebook section of Family Access on Skyward will be open March 1-8 so students can check on assignments before progress reports are issued March 9. Students are encouraged to speak with their teachers face-to-face about progress and academic performance.

Founders’ Day Assembly

All students will gather on the Middle School lawn at 2:40 pm on Tuesday, March 3 for the annual Founders’ Day assembly. Everyone is encouraged to wear school colors!

Pack the Gym!

Catch our basketball teams in action for the annual Pack the Gym on Thursday, March 5 starting at 3:30. Details below in the General Announcements.

Upcoming Progress Report and Athletic Eligibility Determination

Mid-semester narrative progress reports will be available on March 9 at 4:00 pm. Please be aware that this progress report represents the grades to date at the half-way mark of the semester. All students will be provided with narrative feedback on this progress report, which we hope you as parents find helpful. This progress report is used to determine athletic/activity eligibility and academic probation. It is very important that any students with outstanding work submit it well before the progress report is posted. Once the grades are posted they will not be adjusted, and students who find themselves ineligible will be unable to participate in Season 3 sports and activities.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

The High School Parent-Teacher Conference Days are an excellent opportunity to visit campus and meet with teachers to discuss your student’s academic progress. Conferences will take place on Tuesday, March 10 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, March 11 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. As noted above, mid-semester progress reports will be posted on Monday, March 9.

On March 10, conferences will be “arena style” in the High School Gym. No appointments are needed and conferences are limited to quick “check ins” that do not require confidentiality. On March 11, conferences will be in teachers’ classrooms. Appointments will be made in fifteen-minute intervals. For both types of conferences, students are encouraged to attend with parents.

Please note that MS/HS cross-over teachers will ONLY be available at the drop-in conferences on Tuesday, March 10. Cross-over teachers are Mr. Alexander Dzamashvili, Mr. Ian McCuaig, and Mr. Mick Barens.

There will be no school for High School students on Wednesday, March 11.

If a teacher’s schedule is fully booked for Wednesday’s conferences, kindly email that teacher directly to schedule a conference at another time and date. Also, if you won’t be available on the parent-teacher conference day, but want to visit specific teachers, please contact each teacher directly. Parent signup for Wednesday’s conferences begin on March 1 through March 9 closing at 3:00 p.m. via Skyward. Instructions for the signup were sent by email this week and can also be found here.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Eman Hamza in the High School Office at ehamza@cacegypt.org or 2755-5403.

Second Semester Exams, and Graduation

Second semester exam dates are June 1-2 for seniors and June 3-8 for grades 9-11. Please keep in mind while you plan your summer travels that seniors are able to depart after graduation and underclassmen after their final examination. Please note that no exams will be given early.

Graduation – A memo will be circulated to all parents of seniors in early March outlining the events leading up to graduation. As we know that some extended family members plan to come to Cairo please note that this year’s Graduation Ceremony is on Friday, June 5.

PTO Trip
PTO is on a mission to deliver donations! We will be visiting AMC-SNAP and Egypt Equine Aid located in Sakkara to deliver bags full of donated goods that we have collected at CAC.
The AMC-SNAP center is a veterinarian medical and awareness center serving the local area by providing low-cost animal clinic, TNR dogs and training for new veterinarians.
Egypt Equine Aid helps horses, donkeys and mules of Egypt.
The purpose of our visit is to deliver good collected during our New Year Drive.
We will meet at the Front Gate of CAC On March 2nd at 8.30 AM, and take the bags full of donated goods over to Sakkara. The two organizations are only 5 minutes apart, so we’ll easily visit both, drop off the donations, and learn about their work. We plan to be back at CAC at 11.30 AM.
Instead of the usual EGP 100 for the bus ride, we ask that you come and bring a blanket, a towel, some containers, a leash, a collar, soft toys, balls or pillows.
