CAC High School Principal’s Notes

We are very close now to classes starting in the new building. After this long weekend, Science lessons will begin in the new labs, and Dr. Farouk will start teaching History in her new room, alongside members of the Languages department. On Friday the English, Social Studies, and Math departments move their boxes over, and they will start teaching in their new rooms by December 5th. This week has seen students in and out of the ground floor spaces, visiting counselors and the office team. Next week, we are looking forward to hearing and seeing more and more students in the building. The new space is slowly coming to life! We look forward to organizing some parent tours very soon.

9th Grade Seminar

This past week, counselors met with Grade 9 students for the final time this semester. The Final Exam Schedule was reviewed, and they were able to speak directly with older students on how they prepare for exams. Additionally, each student developed a study plan for the next few weeks. We wish all grade 9 students the best of luck on their first final exams of high school!

Upcoming Visits:

Financial Aid Basics for US Universities:

November 30th at 6 pm, via Zoom. RSVP here.

Presented by Dan Warner, Vice Provost for Admissions and Financial Aid, & Assistant Vice Provost for Financial Services, Jen Mertz of Lehigh University.

“In this presentation, we discuss how to apply for financial aid, what factors are considered, and the various components of a financial aid package (i.e different types of financial aid). We will also cover how citizenship can impact eligibility for financial aid, whether you should apply for aid even if you do not think you will qualify, and how merit scholarships factor into the financial aid landscape.”

List of Upcoming University Visits

The counselors receive quite a few invitations to attend online events that universities are hosting. We don’t announce all of these, but we keep track of them on the HS Counseling Resources website. Explore this page to see the dozens of upcoming events you could attend from universities around the world.

Help 2 Causes for the Price of 1

Help 2 Causes for the Price of 1 is a student-led project brought by the HS GISC team. Get your Christmas shopping done early by purchasing cute and trendy items, produced locally by low-income families and small artisans, purchased from the organizations of Tawasol and Neya. All proceeds go towards sponsoring a child’s education at Educate Me. It takes around 7,000 LE for one child’s education, so let’s help as many people as we can! Help support the causes by pre-ordering items from our pre-order form, or pass by one of our booths from December 5th – 9th at the front gate after school, or in front of the library and Coffee Bean during HS lunch. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact 23lahmed@cacegypt.org. We hope to see you at one of our booths! The deadline to pre-order is the morning (8:00am) of Nov. 27 – The form will be closed by then.
