Vaccination updates and reminders
Now children aged 12-18 have the ability to get vaccinated here in Egypt, CAC is strongly encouraging all families of MS and HS students to take up this opportunity. Being vaccinated is still one of the best ways to protect yourself and others from the COVID-19 virus, along with layered mitigation steps such as mask-wearing, distancing, ventilation and hand hygiene. Please also remember to keep the CAC Health Office informed of your child’s vaccination status.
Exams
You will be aware by now that the end of semester exam period is approaching (Dec 12-15). Please encourage your child to plan out a reasonable and realistic approach to review and study over the next week. Our counselors have been speaking with Grade 9 students about managing the exam preparations (as it is their first time), and all teachers are also having these conversations and providing advice in classes too.
It is important for students (and parents) to remember that while exams are important, and test-taking is a necessary skill to develop, the semester exams are just another piece of assessment data that is used to determine how a student is progressing towards meeting the grade level learning standards. In terms of the value and weighting of exams, it is also important to note that no exam will be weighed at more than 20% of the final semester grade. The exam grade is combined with all the other evidence gathered during the semester and factored in to determine the final grade. So, do take it seriously but try not to let it stress your child out to the point of becoming unhappy. Remember–a certain amount of stress is good and healthy but too much stress is not.
DT Exhibition
Our Design Technology students enjoyed showcasing their work to parents and faculty at the DT Exhibition this week. Students were proud to show their finished products and the designs that were drafted along the way. 3D printing, sketching skills and a sound understanding of the principles of design were all evident at this first-of-its-kind event for the HS Design program. Congratulations to the students and thank you to Mr Thorburn and Mr Marzouk for organising and facilitating the event.

Moving on from CAC before the winter break?
Please use the link below to let us know if you are withdrawing from CAC this semester so that we can prepare records in time for your departure. (please note that the final high school transcript which includes this semester’s grades will not be available until January 16th, 2022)

A few days before your departure, a withdrawal form that includes several signatures must also be completed in order to clear any outstanding obligations, and turned in to the Admission/Registrar’s Office to release records.

CAC Winter Concert Series 2021 (Orchestra / Band / Choir)
December 2nd, 5th, 7th, 9th
CAC’s Winter Night of Music Concert Series will be held over 4 nights to accommodate smaller audience sizes (100). You Must pre-register your attendance to allow time to create a safe mitigation seating plan in advance. Simply click on the register link for the concert you want to attend and present your CAC ID card at the theatre door to enter. Your CAC-ID is your ticket! All shows run from 6-7pm. Doors open at 5:40pm. Register now to save your seat before they are gone!

The MHS Library is for parents too!
Parents, please feel free to visit the MHS library just before and just after school to come check out books Sunday-Thursday. If you would like to spend more time in the library, please visit us on Saturdays from 10am to 2pm. Parents are able to check out up to 10 items from our print collection at a time. We have books and magazines available for you to check out in the library and also online!
