WWW is here!

The excitement in the air is palpable since our WWW meetings yesterday, and through the day today. Students are understandably excited at the prospect of a week of experiential learning with their friends either here in Cairo or further afield. The teachers are excited too, and we are all looking forward to hearing the stories of adventures and digging into the learning that takes place next week. Parents—we know you will be anxious to welcome your child home but in the meantime, we hope you enjoy some time and space to yourselves in the knowledge that your children will be well looked after and they are having a truly memorable experience. Please note that during the week of March 27-31 most high school teachers will be off campus leading WWW excursions and may be delayed in responding to emails.

WWW overnight travel and PCR Testing at CAC

As you are aware, CAC is requiring a PCR test for all students and faculty who travel overnight. Testing has been arranged on campus tomorrow and Saturday to facilitate this process for students and their families. It will be conducted by Speed Labs, with whom we are partnering. CAC plans to follow up on test results with those who test on campus as follows:

• Test results will be communicated to parents and students by the CAC Health Office or Administration once they have been received from the lab; copies of the lab reports will be shared with trip leaders prior to departure.
• If a positive result is recorded, parents may choose to have a second PCR test administered the following day (if time allows). If this second result is negative, the student will be allowed to travel. In such cases, families are encouraged to use a different lab.
• A student who tests positive after recently recovering from Covid-19 may be allowed to travel; decisions in this circumstance will be made on a case-by-case basis.
• Any student with a positive test result will not be allowed to travel.
• Any siblings who are designated “close contacts” with a positive case will also not be allowed to travel.
• Families who are not having PCR tests administered at CAC must produce a formal results document from the testing facility indicating the student’s name, date of birth, and negative test result. (Note: a QR code is not required.)
• Students who are unable to produce a negative Covid-19 test result, either from a PCR test administered at CAC or from another lab, will not be allowed to travel..
