Highro Glyphics Newsletter Week of August 18, 2022

CAC High School Principal’s Notes

HS Team 22-23

Dear High School Parents,

Welcome to the start of the 2022-23 school year and welcome also to the first edition of this year’s Highro-Glyphics weekly newsletter. Thanks for reading!

It was fantastic to see many students on campus on Tuesday as our high school ambassadors welcomed this year’s new arrivals at our New Family Orientation event. It was also a pleasure to meet many of our new parents and welcome you to the community. I know that our returning CAC students and wider community members will all make newcomers feel welcome and at home.

As of yesterday, the year got off to a flying start and the wonderful, positive energy of the first two days with students on campus has continued into today. We are all enjoying seeing smiling faces and happy students back after the holiday and now the serious business of getting down to studies is getting started. By now students have visited all their classes, met all their teachers and learned about the expectations of their courses for the year ahead (or two years for the IB students).

At the start of the year, I would like to welcome our new students and faculty members who have joined the community this year. So far, we have 43 new students joining the high school, giving us a total number of 326 students. We are also thrilled to welcome 10 new faculty members—excellent educators from around the world— to our team:

• Ms. Balazs – Science and Student Support Services
• Ms. Bradley – Math
• Ms. Colado Cabo – Spanish
• Mr. Corwin – Student Support Services
• Mr. Godfrey – Social Studies and TOK
• Ms. Minix – Digital Art, Yearbook and Visual Art
• Mr. Mortelette – Math
• Mr. Smyth – Chemistry
• Ms. Stiles – Counseling
• Mr. Goetz – Athletics and Activities Director

You can access the 2022-23 Student-Parent Handbook on our website. Please take a moment to look this over and be sure to consult it if you have some specific questions about the programs, policies and procedures in the high school.

Dates for your Diary
• Sun 21 Aug – Athletics and Activities Fair & Sign Ups (lunchtime)
