Learning spaces get greener!

One week of learning done! The last week has been spent establishing routines and expectations as well as learning about course syllabi and getting to know teachers and students in the classes. The energy levels have been high and we are all excited to get the year up and running.

The Athletics and Activities Fair this week was a huge success. As you can see from the photo above, almost the entire HS turned up to explore the range of clubs and activities on offer. Interest and sign ups have been very high with more than 200 students expressing interest in joining one of the three sports teams this season and about the same number signing up for activities.

It was wonderful to see so many students come out to the tryouts yesterday and today. Aspiring athletes in soccer, volleyball and cross country have been practicing their skills and showing their positive attitudes towards teamwork and friendly competition. We always encourage high school students to sign up and take this opportunity to get involved in the full life of the school. The benefits for their health, fitness and well-being will be immediately apparent and long lasting. Next week, those interested in working in the High School Drama Production will have the chance to sign up at the auditions on Sunday and Monday.

Two events happening next week for you to put into your diary are the first Parent Coffee of the year (Tuesday, 9:30 a.m.) and the Back to School Night (Wednesday 5:00 p.m.). At the coffee morning we will introduce you to the HS admin and counseling team, as well as a few other faculty members you will need to know through the course of the year. The Back to School Night is an opportunity to meet all of your child’s teachers, their homeroom advisor, counselor and the IB and Curriculum Coordinator to learn more about the academic program and support structures for your child this year. I hope you will be able to join one or both of these events.

Dates for your Diary
• Sun 28 Aug: PTO Open House (all day drop in at PTO Lounge)
• Tues 30 Aug – HS Parent Coffee Morning 9:30 a.m. HS Meeting Room
• Wed 31 Aug – Back to School Night 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Details will be emailed next week.
