Romance is in the air – Promposals!

With so many holidays and long weekends coming in the next month, it may be a little hard to keep on top of what’s going on with the school calendar. Below, I have added a list of events and important dates to take you through to the end of the school year. While we are not trying to rush the time away— there is still plenty of teaching and learning time left—it will be important to plan ahead around the various things that are happening if families and students are to stay organized.

At this time, I will take an opportunity to make a reminder about the importance of consistent attendance and punctuality in the mornings and to classes. Being on time and in school regularly are critical components to academic success and well-being, especially so as we go through the upcoming assessment season.

As the final quarter rolls on, there will be many assessments, end of year projects, and assignments that your child will need to complete. Please help them to keep organized by using their planner, or any other organizational tools that assist them. Their Google Classroom will be a good reference point for knowing what’s expected and helping them keep on track. If at any time, your child is feeling overwhelmed or stressed about their workload or the upcoming exams, please be sure to speak with them about this and help them prioritize their work and manage their emotions. While the grades at the end of the year are certainly important, there is much more to a quality education than simply the grades a student gets. In addition, hard and consistent work usually results in good academic progress. Help your child to see this connection, maintain their balance and encourage them to try their best in their classes. You may also contact your child’s counselor, homeroom teacher, or any of the subject teachers to discuss concerns about workload or coming content.

Wishing you all a wonderful holiday weekend and a Happy Easter.

General Announcements

We had a great visit with the author Kate Messner this week!

This week we had the pleasure of hosting author Kate Messner at CAC. She met with the HS students in Creative Writing class and the Papyrus club. It was a valuable experience for our students who have a passion for writing to be able to learn about both the writing and publishing process from an accomplished author. Ms. Messner conveyed that writing takes not only creativity, but perseverance and a strong need for curiosity.

Ms. Messner also shared that if you want to be a better writer, you need to be a reader! Starting next week, the library will be displaying books that Ms. Messner suggests for High School readers.

We have so enjoyed having Ms. Messner here and we can’t wait to have more authors visit!

The Library is closed this Saturday!

The CAC Libraries will be closed for the rest of April on Saturday because of the holiday weekend.
