CAC High School Principal’s Notes

Well, here we are at the end of the year! And what a year it has been. I would like to go back and identify some highlights of the year, but when I started to scroll back through the calendar, I realized there were just too many different events and happenings for me to be able to identify one or two special highlights. And so, rather than unduly shining a spotlight on one or two things, I will instead take this opportunity to say thank you and well done to each and every one of our community members. Especially, a huge thank you to our dedicated high school faculty and staff who have facilitated a wonderful educational experience for your children this year. A huge congratulations to all our students for successfully completing the school year with all its highs and lows, and bumps in between. High school can be a challenging time, and I’m consistently impressed by our students’ fortitude, resilience, and good spirit. They are a credit to you all as parents. We are proud and happy to be in partnership with you in the education of your child here at CAC.

At this time, I would like to say a special thank you to those colleagues from the high school faculty who will be departing and heading to other locations this year. This year, the departing teachers are:

Mr. Erik Dunham
Ms. Ashley Gramolini
Ms. Paulette Smith
Ms. Erica Minix
Ms. Narmien Deeb

We are deeply thankful for their years of service here at CAC and wish them well in their new locations and adventures scattered around the globe. In addition to the five above, three members of HS faculty will be retiring this year:
Dr. Heba Farouk
Mr. Jonathan Bryans
Dr. Maya Williamson

A special congratulations must go to these three retiring teachers who between them, have contributed 57 years of service to CAC!

Celebrating Dr. Farouk, Mr. Bryans and Dr. Williamson on their retirement!

I would also like to take a moment to wish all our departing students and families the very best of luck with their transfers and moves to new locations. The life of an international school has a somewhat transient feel to it at times, and while this is a defining feature, it can also be challenging for those who are leaving and those who are left behind. To all those who are leaving this year, please know that your contributions to our community are valued and we will miss each and every one of you. Good luck with your next steps.

And with that said, we can now turn our attention to the holiday—precious family time, a chance to relax and unwind, and time for some reflection about the year. We look forward to welcoming you back for the 2024–2025 school year on August 19th. Until then, please enjoy some rest, relaxation, and family time. Travel safe and take care.

Kind regards,
Andrew Buckman
