CAC High School Principal’s Notes

Volunteering at the Egyptian Food Bank

Well folks, we made it to spring break after a long stretch of learning! This break, which also encompasses the Eid holiday, is well-timed as the weather is starting to warm up. Our students have been working hard, and everyone is ready for a well-earned rest. We encourage our students to take this time to refresh and recharge before rejoining us on the 6th of April for the final part of the school year, heading towards the end of the semester. We’ll be sending out information about end-of-semester arrangements and exams shortly after the break.

In the first week back, we are excited to see several events taking place. Our IB Visual Artists will be inviting the CAC community to the opening of their IB art exhibition—always a highlight of the year. The exhibition showcases the culmination of two years of work and promises to be fantastic. Please join us on Tuesday, the 7th, at 5:30 PM for the opening. We also wish the best of luck to our IB Theatre students, who will be performing their higher-level solo theatre pieces for a select audience that same week. These performances and the art exhibition are the final examination projects for those IB Arts subjects.

Also, just after the break, our Grade 11 IB students will present their Theory of Knowledge Exhibitions on Tuesday, the 8th of April. If you are able to join us and explore these exhibitions of thinking and knowledge, you are most welcome.

As always, our students have been out and about, actively making a positive difference in the lives of others. Recently, student council members presented to Grade 1 students about the concept of community and community service. A short report from one of the council members is included below. Additionally, we have students initiating independent projects and school-based activities to serve our community in various ways. Enjoy the photos of our students taking action to make the world around us a better place.

There is always much to look forward to at CAC. I want to reiterate my message that everyone should take a well-earned rest and time to relax next week.

Enjoy the holiday, and Eid Mubarak!

STUCO present to Grade 1

On Wednesday, the high school student council was asked to give a small presentation to the first grade class about service. With the help of four of our student council members, from both the executive and class councils, we gave an overview of what service was and how the student council and other clubs do service. We did this by introducing what communities are, what service is, how service is being done in the high school, and examples of how they can do service in their everyday lives. Through an interactive presentation, this goal was achieved and the children were eager and shared some of their experiences and questions. Overall, it was a great experience and the kids were a fantastic audience. (Yvonne Chi, Grade 11)

If you were unable to attend, we encourage you to explore the following resources to familiarize yourself with the financial aid landscape:
1. Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) 2. College Scholarship Service Profile (CSS Profile) 3. International Student Financial Aid Form (ISFAA)
4. Jenny Kent and Jeff Levy University List based on financial aid for domestic and international students The ISFAA is particularly important for international students as it helps assess eligibility for institutional financial aid. This application is free and available in a paper format for download from the websites of the respective institutions.
