CAC High School Principal’s Notes
Congratulations Class of 2025!
Well, here we are at the end of the year! And what a year it has been. I would like to go back and identify some highlights of the year, but when I started to scroll back through the calendar, I realized there were just too many different events and happenings for me to be able to identify one or two special highlights.
And so, rather than unduly shining a spotlight on one or two things, I will instead take this opportunity to say thank you and well done to each and every one of our community members. Especially, a huge thank you to our dedicated high school faculty and staff who have facilitated a wonderful educational experience for your children this year. A huge congratulations to all our students for successfully completing the school year with all its highs and lows, and bumps in between. High school can be a challenging time, and I’m consistently impressed by our students’ fortitude, resilience, and good spirit. They are a credit to you all as parents. We are proud and happy to be in partnership with you in the education of your child here at CAC.
I would like to say a special thank you to those colleagues from the high school who will be departing and heading to other locations this year. This year, the departing teachers are:
Ms. Mirian Kotzikas – ELL
Mr. Chris Broad – Disruptive Innovation and Technology
Dr. Kurt Gutschick – Social Studies
Mr. Kyle Moore – Math
Mr. Emad El Shabrawy – Arabic
In addition to these wonderful faculty, we are also saying goodbye to the High School Assistant Principal, Ms. Rachel McCall. Rachel has dedicated 6 years of service to CAC and has worked closely with many of our families. Rachel is moving into the role of HS Principal at the American School in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and we wish her all the best in this transition.
I would also like to take a moment to wish all our departing students and families the very best of luck with their transfers and moves to new locations. The life of an international school has a somewhat transient feel to it at times, and while this is a defining feature, it can also be challenging for those who are leaving and those who are left behind. To all those who are leaving this year, please know that your contributions to our community are valued and we will miss each and every one of you. Good luck with your next steps.
And with that said, we can now turn our attention to the holiday—precious family time, a chance to relax and unwind, and time for some reflection about the year. We look forward to welcoming you back for the 2025–2026 school year on August 18th. Until then, please enjoy some rest, relaxation, and family time. Travel safe and take care.
Kind regards,
Andrew Buckman

ACTIVITIES
Week Without Walls (WWW) – February 2026
Earlier this week, all High School students and families received an email update about Week Without Walls (WWW). Next school year, WWW will take place during the week of February 8–12, 2026.
While full details will be shared in August and September, families are encouraged to begin thinking ahead over the summer — especially if your child may join an international course.
Summer Prep Checklist:
• Check passport validity: Passports must be valid through at least August 13, 2026 (6 months after the latest WWW trip returns in February). If a renewal is needed, summer is the ideal time.
• Start the conversation: Discuss whether international travel is a good fit for your child and family. This will help guide your decisions when course options are released in the fall.
Coming in the Fall:
• Full list of WWW course options, including both international and in-Egypt experiences
• Information on costs, timelines, and how to register
• A coordinated communication plan so all families get the same information at the same time
Reminder: Middle School PRIME trips continue to take place separately in October.
