International Day of Peace

This coming Monday we will mark International Peace Day, a timely opportunity to reflect with our students on the importance of empathy, respect, and understanding in a world that can often feel increasingly polarized. As a school committed to preparing young people as global citizens, we believe it is essential that students learn how to engage with differences of opinion in ways that build connection rather than division, approaching differences with compassion and dialogue rather than hostility. Our goal is to help students see themselves as active contributors to a more peaceful and respectful community—both here at school and beyond.

HS–Pre-K/KG Collaboration: Designing for People and the Planet

This week, High School Design students teamed up with Pre-K and KG for an inspiring collaboration connected to the Who We Are unit of inquiry in the Elementary School. The younger students shared their favorite toys, and together they imagined ways to redesign them to be better for both children and the planet. This is the beginning of an ongoing collaborative project with the ES. HS students will be redesigning children’s products with the KG and PK students. Our HS students absolutely loved their first experience—it gave them authentic insight into the needs and creativity of young children and served as a powerful kickoff for their IB Design projects. Over the coming weeks, they will be working to redesign a product used by children ages 3–6, with a focus on making it better for people and the planet.
