CAC High School Principal’s Notes

Digital Citizenship Work In Progress
Building a Culture of Digital Integrity at CAC
At CAC, we are continuing to take a proactive approach to helping students navigate the digital world with integrity, responsibility, and balance. Technology is a powerful tool for learning, connection, and creativity—but it also requires thoughtful guidance. For the next few weeks, our high school students are engaging in a series of conversations and activities centered around Digital Integrity—what it means to use technology legally, appropriately, responsibly, and kindly (LARK).
Through discussions in homeroom, students are exploring real-world issues such as academic honesty in the age of AI, respectful communication and consent online, digital well-being, and responsible use of devices. These sessions are designed to help students think critically about their own digital habits, values, and choices.
As part of this initiative, all students will review and sign the CAC Digital Integrity Checklist and Pledge, a shared commitment to using technology in ways that reflect our school’s core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, compassion, perseverance, courage, and creativity. A copy of the checklist and pledge will be shared with parents next week so that families can review it together and continue these important conversations at home.
We hope this shared understanding will strengthen the partnership between home and school as we guide students to make thoughtful, ethical, and balanced choices in their digital lives. Together, we can help our students build the skills and judgment they need to be confident, responsible, and compassionate digital citizens—both now and in the future.

University Fair
This week’s University Fair was a tremendous success, bringing together students, parents, and representatives from over 100 universities from around the world. The event was a vibrant and engaging opportunity for our high school community to explore future pathways and connect directly with admissions officers.
It was wonderful to see so many parents attending alongside their children. Your presence and partnership made the event especially meaningful and reinforced the shared role school and families play in supporting students’ post-secondary journeys.
A sincere thank you to our counseling team for organizing such a dynamic event. We encourage families to continue the conversation at home—reviewing notes, researching favorite universities, and keeping the momentum going as students plan their next steps.

Counseling Department Announcements
Week of October 16, 2025
Thanks to all the parents who attended the 8th annual university fair today! We hope you were able to have useful conversations with the university reps from around the world where CAC students apply.
Thanks to JD Duck from Tufts University for presenting to our CAC high school students and parents this past Monday evening. He gave a very informative overview of Tufts, USA university admissions decision plans such as ED I, ED II, EA and RD & tips on writing supplemental for selective universities. He also gave an update on the process to apply for USA financial aid and scholarships and how to apply for a US F-1 student visa as an international student.
All Juniors Took the PSAT!
This past Monday, all of our juniors participated in the PSAT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). This exam provides valuable practice for the SAT (and other standardized tests), helps students identify academic strengths and areas for growth, and connects them with college and scholarship opportunities. Scores will be available later this fall, and counselors will meet with students to review results and discuss next steps in their college and career planning journey. Students are encouraged to talk to their counselor to develop a testing timeline and study plan that works best for them!
Upcoming University Visits:
Tuesday, October 21st:
George Washington University: 11:15 am-12:00 pm outside the high school
Standardized Test Dates: Your student can click on this link to find out more about the SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS, and Duolingo for those planning to take a standardized test for university entrance requirements. Note: test registrants for any ACT test may receive a relocation notice if ACT moves the testing location from CAC to a different center. You will receive an email from ACT about a week before the test if you are moved.
Visit our CAC Counseling web site for information about college and career research.
