Design Technology Preparation for Design Assessments

Design Technology Visits to the Kindergarten

Last week, I wrote about the work we are doing to take a proactive approach to helping students navigate the digital world with integrity, responsibility, and balance.

As part of this initiative, all students will soon be reviewing and signing the CAC Digital Integrity Checklist and Pledge, a shared commitment to using technology in ways that reflect our school’s core values.

Next week, parents will receive a copy of the checklist and pledge to read and discuss together with your child. These conversations at home are a vital part of helping students internalize what responsible digital behavior looks like—not just at school, but in their personal lives as well.

By talking with your child about the ideas in the pledge—such as honesty in academic work, respectful communication online, and balance in technology use—you reinforce the same expectations and values we emphasize at school. This shared approach between home and school helps students make thoughtful, ethical, and balanced choices in their digital lives, and supports them in becoming confident, responsible, and compassionate digital citizens.

From the PTO

A Sustainably Spooky Initiative in Collaboration with Nestlé!

Hello CAC families, this Halloween season, the CAC PTO is proud to launch a sustainability initiative in collaboration with Nestlé, bringing creativity and environmental awareness together for a greener celebration.

As part of this initiative, Nestlé generously donated plastic bottles to our Halloween Decorations Committee, inspiring our volunteers to upcycle water bottles into spooky, sustainable decorations.

Nestlé, a company committed to sustainability, continues to lead by example as the first company to provide water in recycled bottles. These recycled water bottles will be available for purchase at the Halloween Carnival, offering our community a simple, practical way to make environmentally conscious choices.

In addition, Nestlé will oversee waste management during the Halloween Carnival, ensuring that all waste generated is responsibly collected, recycled, and transformed into new products helping reduce our environmental footprint.

To keep sustainability going beyond the event, a Reverse Vending Machine (RVM) will be placed on campus for an entire month. Families can recycle their plastic bottles from home and contribute to this important cause. At the end of the month, all collected bottles will be sold to a recycling plant, with 100% of the proceeds donated to The Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357.

This initiative will also extend to our students, who will participate in community service and sustainability field trips as part of the collaboration.

And to make it even more fun, we’re hosting a “Guess How Many Bottles” competition this week! Students can try to guess how many recycled bottles were used in our Halloween decorations. The closest guess will win a special treat and the opportunity to join one of the sustainability field trips.

As you walk around campus, don’t forget to check out the recycling facts displayed near our decorations! Each fact shares an eye-opening look at how recycling helps conserve resources and protect our environment.

Together with Nestlé, we’re proving that sustainability and celebration can go hand in hand. Let’s all do our part — reduce, reuse, and recycle— to keep our planet clean, our community strong, and our future bright. Here’s to a spooktacular and sustainable Halloween at CAC!
