CAC High School Principal’s Notes
Dear High School Parents,
Welcome to the final edition of Highro-Glyphics in 2020!
This week students took their exams, wrapping up a semester of hard work and perseverance. Congratulations to them, and to all faculty, staff, and parents for making it through this semester. Through all the mitigation protocols, schedule adjustments, virtual meetings, and the many challenges we faced, the CAC community has held strong, and our students have found ways to thrive.
Some recent accomplishments to celebrate:
● The Speech and Debate team took part in the first-ever NESDA Tournament.
● The theatre students created a Hybrid Theatre collection of videos.
● Seniors in IB Economics took part in the World Economics Cup, competing against students from 48 schools in 33 countries. Jana H., Nada A., and Omar F. won bronze, and Harshith L. took silver! Selim H. and Harshith also finished in the top 30 worldwide for Deep Comprehension.
Our successes this semester will carry over into the new year. During the winter break CAC will continue to monitor local viral transmission, and in early January we plan to announce details about our plans for January 10.
Thank you for all the support you have provided during this extraordinary year.
We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season, and we look forward to seeing you in 2021!

Counseling Department Announcements
Schedule Changes: If students have a schedule change request for the second semester, they should contact their counselor right away. Any schedule changes need to occur by Thursday, January 14th, 2021.
SENIORS:
Documents. CAC is closed for winter break December 18th until January 10th, and no documents can be processed from CAC during this time. Document Request Forms should be submitted to the counseling office by now for all UCAS and January application deadlines.
Mid Year Reports. Universities may ask students to submit mid year transcripts. These will be sent to universities by the end of January (for universities on MAIA), once Skyward is updated with first semester grades. Students will also receive a PDF copy to forward on to the universities that are requiring students to upload documents on their own.
Juniors:
Save the date! February 2, 2021. Junior College Night programming will be a little different this year. The kickoff live virtual session will be held on February 2nd. We will be providing more information when we return from break, so stay tuned!

We are extremely pleased to have received two copies of the brand new collection of short stories by our HS Arabic teacher, Ameer Ahmed. The copies are autographed and available for checkout at the MHS library. Congratulations to Ameer on becoming a published author!
Merry December Reading and a Happy 2021
The CAC libraries wish our community restful and safe holidays, filled with family and reading. Post a “shelfie” (a selfie with a book) and tag it #CACEgyptReads to inspire the community to make a New Year’s Resolution to read more in 2021.
All library materials checked out in 2020 are due back on January 10, 2021, even if the campus is closed. There will be a drop box at the front gate during the break where you can return books early.
And of course, Sora is open 24/7. All you need is to download the app on to a mobile device (or log on to soraapp.com) and enter your CAC single sign on when asked for your Follett account.
