Highro Glyphics Newsletter Week of April 7, 2022

CAC High School Principal’s Notes

It was a hot and steamy week here on campus. That, coupled with many of our community fasting during this period, has made it a quieter week. After the excitement of learning outside during WWW, teachers have used this week to refocus students’ attention on the core learning required to complete the curriculum as we approach the end of the year. For our Grade 12 IB students, exams are looming (April 28) and for all HS students, the next few weeks are critical as they approach the final end-of semester exams and assessments in May.

Please help at home by encouraging your child to lead a happy, healthy life that includes a balance between academic work, physical activity, social time and relaxing. Healthy sleep and eating habits are also more important than ever as the workload increases and stress levels may also rise.

Parents as Partners – Principal’s Coffee
It was wonderful to host more than 40 HS parents at this week’s Principal’s Coffee morning here in the HS Building. Parents worked together to talk around the topic of assessment and grading, looking at the concepts through the lens of student wellbeing. The slides used for this event can be viewed here.

Covid Mitigation
There have been no new cases of Covid reports in the High School in the last week. As announced last week, mask wearing protocols have shifted to being optional for all. Those who feel more comfortable wearing masks indoors are encouraged to do so. Please note that masks are still required for all on all school transportation, regardless of vaccination status.

Week Without Walls Feedback
Please take a few moments to complete the WWW parent / student survey this weekend. Your feedback will be very helpful to our planning team, as we consider what worked this year, and what we can improve upon next year. Please complete one form for each child. Thank you!
