We enjoyed a short, three-day week which saw the start of this year’s IB exams for our Grade 12 IB cohort today. The season kicked off with the HL and SL Physics exams and will continue through the next weeks (unfortunately, the IB does not take our holiday into account!). We wish our IB students the very best of luck with these important exams. For our non-IB Grade 12 students, classes continue until May 29 and final exams will take place on May 30 & 31.

Next week, CAC is closed in recognition of the Labor Day holiday and, of course, Eid el Fitr. Classes will resume on Sunday, 8 May. We look forward to welcoming everybody back for the final four and a half weeks of learning remaining this school year. Let’s work together to make sure all our students make the most of these important final weeks by attending all their classes, completing the final assessments and ensuring they are fully prepared for their end of year exams on May 30 to June 6.

I wish all those who will be celebrating next week: Eid Mubarak!

Counseling Department Announcements

Week of April 28, 2022

Grades 9-11

Student Ambassador opportunities for 2022-23!
Student Ambassadors are an integral part of our school community, as they have the opportunity to represent CAC and serve as liaisons between the current school community, new students/families, and can help facilitate campus events. As a volunteer, students will be matched up with a new student, start to correspond with them over the summer to answer any questions, and be present with them at the orientation in August and beyond. If interested, students should refer to the email from Ms. Bean to learn about how to apply, and further info sessions will take place in May.

Grade 11

USA college essay session: Tuesday, May 10th at lunchtime in Mr. Burton’s classroom, counselors will run a session on how to write a USA style college essay. Students planning to apply to a US university next year should try to draft their essay over the summer. It is recommended students come to this session to learn some tips and advice on how to get started.

Thank you to the NHS!

Over the past few weeks, members of the NHS have volunteered their time during lunch to share a bit of their experience with college admissions, offering tips and tricks on the following topics:
• Portal Setup for U.S, Canada, Netherlands, Switzerland and UCAS
• Resume Building for Activities List
• Writing workshop for college essays
• Final Tips + Senior Panel
Immense thanks to these students for giving back to their fellow classmates in such a creative and amazing way.

Teacher Letters of Recommendation: The majority of students will be in need of an academic recommendation(s) for university applications. Class of 2023 students were emailed instructions and policies for requesting these letters of recommendation and are asked to start this process ASAP. Students should request letters of recommendation from teachers by May 11th, by following the instructions sent in the email. Students should contact their counselor if they have any questions or concerns.

Additional resources available for Grade 11 students and families. Students and families exploring US or UK universities, you may find the following videos and resources:
