CAC High School Principal’s Notes

Flags on campus to celebrate internationalism at CAC

Hydroponic watering system outside the DT Lab

It was only a short three day week, but we managed to pack a lot in at the high school. This was the last of the short spring weeks, and we now moved into the final stretch before high school exams which begin at the end of the month. These next three uninterrupted weeks of learning are a crucial time for your student to focus on what they have learnt during the semester, building their confidence and exam taking skills ready for the semester two exams.

We continue to emphasize the importance of regular attendance at this time of year. Good attendance in classes always translates into improved academic performance. There is no better place to learn material, practice skills, and discuss with peers and the teacher in order to prepare for the end of semester.

Our baseball team flew to London this week to represent CAC at an international tournament. We wish them the very best of luck and are proud of their achievements so far. Go Eagles!

Sustainable fashion at the Eco Fair

As I type this week’s newsletter, our team is setting up for the annual Green Team Eco Fair which takes place after school today. If you’re able to join us on campus, this is a wonderful opportunity to see vendors and organizations who are approaching their work in a sustainable and environmentally friendly way. Great inspiration for us all. As always, our students have been helping with the planning and organization and are looking forward to welcoming you on campus for this event.

Semester exams for grades 9-11 will begin on Sunday, June 2nd, and run through June 9th. The daily schedule will be announced next week. Students are required to sit their exams as scheduled. Please see the Morning Announcements for more information.

It is hard to believe that planning for the October 2024 Week Without Walls (WWW) program is well underway! An introductory letter, program information and a course catalog will be sent to families in the coming days, and the WWW course request system will be open May 15-19th. Please contact Rachel McCall if you have any questions in the meantime.

Support ‘NetworkforPalestine’

NetworkforPalestine is a small group of volunteers to support the families and individuals who fled Gaza, helping them find safety, stability, and peace while in Cairo.
It aims to provide them with the support and resources to rebuild their lives. Let’s come forward with assorted hygiene kits, baby necessities, lightly used toys, clothes, and kitchen stuff to make their lives easier. Drop your donations in the red box at CAC’s front gate (April 28th – May 19th). Every contribution, big or small, is highly valued. Thank you for being a part of this process.

If you want more information on the donation drive, check the poster.

CAC All Pro Dad – May 16

Hello everyone! The next CAC All Pro Dad meeting is scheduled for 16 May.

All Pro Dad is a monthly gathering where dads get to intentionally engage with their kids! This of course is not just limited to dads, but all children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be fun activities and a character-based curriculum that helps parents start meaningful conversations with their kids.

The next meeting is scheduled for 16 May at 7:00 am and it would be great to see you there.

May’s topic is Respect. To respect others is to believe they’re valuable and to treat them that way. When we believe people are valuable, we are considerate of them, and we honor their rights and their wishes.

If you would like to come, please RSVP here! https://allprodadchapters.com/chapters/13407

The CAC Booster Club NEEDS YOU!!! The Booster Club is a volunteer organization on campus that runs on parent power. We raise money through the Spirit Store and Spirit Cafe to support the sports and activities that happen at CAC at all age levels. If you would like to become more involved in fundraising and socializing on campus, then we have the perfect opportunities! We are in need of people to take some positions that will become vacant during the next school year. The positions that are available are:

President: organize meetings, recruit volunteers and help with events
Vice President: support the president and help with events
Store Rep: help manage the Spirit Store and its volunteers
Treasurer (in training): gradually take over managing the Booster Club’s finances

Please reach out to us at boosterclub@cac.org for any more information about these positions or to ask any questions that you might have. Executive elections will take place at the final Booster Club meeting on May 20th in the Spirit Store at 10am. The Booster Club and CAC will thank you for your volunteerism!
