Grade 11 University Application Kick Off

Thank you and kudos to our counselling team for hosting a fantastic grade 11 university kickoff meeting last night. It was wonderful to see so many parents attending this session and engaging proactively in the university application process at this early stage. Our grade 11s are in safe hands with the team, and next week they will begin meeting with their counselors to discuss in more detail what the university application process will look like for them over the coming months. If there’s anything we can do to support you or your child on this journey, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s counselor.

Next week the CAC MUN team will participate in The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN) event in the Netherlands, one of the world’s most prestigious model UN conferences. We wish our CAC delegates a successful trip, and look forward to hearing more about their adventures upon their return after next week.

A quick reminder to all our Grade 10 parents and students that you are invited to join us for two important events in the next two weeks. Firstly, the IB Information Evening on Monday 27 January and secondly, the Grade 10 Subject Selection Event, taking place on Monday 4 February. Please mark your calendars and watch your emails for more details if you are a Grade 10 parent. We look forward to welcoming you at this event to help students and parents understand all the different types of courses that are on offer during the grade 11 and 12 years to make an informed decision about which courses are right for them.

I hope you enjoy the long weekend and take the opportunity to relax and enjoy this wonderful winter weather. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Sunday.

Grade 9 Seminar

This past week, our counselors have had productive meetings with our 9th-grade students during the first seminar held for second semester.

During these sessions, students reflected on their 1st-semester transcripts, which were emailed to them for review. This was a valuable opportunity for them to understand their academic progress and set goals moving forward. We began discussions on course selection for the upcoming school year and began mapping out their four-year educational plans.

Additionally, we introduced students to Maia Learning, an important platform that will assist them in researching colleges and careers. We emphasized the importance of setting personal and academic goals for the 2nd semester and encouraged ongoing conversations at home to support their aspirations.

Class of 2026 Parent University Application Information Session

On January 21st, we held a successful Junior Parent College Night, where our counselors met with Grade 11 parents to discuss the college application process. The evening covered essential topics, including different university application systems, effective college research strategies, and important timelines to keep in mind.

To ensure our students are equally prepared, they will be meeting during their flex periods to review the same material (3 sets of sessions this semester). This will provide them with the necessary time to connect with their counselors to plan their future applications and address any questions they may have. We are committed to supporting our juniors as they embark on this exciting journey toward college!

Grade 10 families: Save the Date: Tuesday, Feb 4th starting at 3:10 pm: Course Selection Information Fair for Grade 10 Families. The purpose of this event is to help students make informed and appropriate choices about the academic pathway and courses they wish to take in Grade 11 leading to Grade 12. Details and RSVP to be sent soon!
