Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for reading this week’s edition of the Middle School News and Views. It was a busy week, and we have had much to celebrate in the Middle School.
We had our visiting author Mr. Stephen Davies who spent four days with us on campus.
In grade six Science, students were examining cells and drawing their observations through a microscope. This activity was a fun way to wrap up a unit of cells and their functions.
The middle school drama department production of Annie Jr. opens tonight, and we are hoping that many of you will be attending the show. There will be three showings which we are hoping will accommodate everybody’s schedule, so make sure that you come and enjoy our student’s hard work and talent.. Thanks to Mr. Johnson, Mr. McCuaig, and Ms. Dolly Shalaby for their hard work with our talented actors. The list of people that has helped is long, so thanks to all that participated in making a production of this magnitude come together.
In grade eight Language Arts, students are working on writing a position paper on a topic. As an extension of the lesson, students had the opportunity to use Lego to create something to express how they felt about the position paper.
In grade seven Language Arts, students were working on historical fiction and had the opportunity to use play dough to create realistic fiction scenes for their exposition.
In the spirit of showing gratitude, the high school and middle school STUCO students organized the GSS lunch today. None of this is possible without the support of you, the parents. Thank you for supporting this initiative. We do realize it is one more thing to ask of you; however, the joy it brings to the workers’ heart is priceless. Your contribution and generosity are appreciated.
Next week Wednesday, we have an ERD; therefore, students will be dismissed at 11:30, and Thursday is the US Thanksgiving holiday. It will be a much needed three day weekend for students and teachers.
Thank you goes out to the grade six teachers and their students for the organizing of the middle school bake sale to support Africa Hope. This has been a tradition for the past 12 years, and it is great to see the satisfaction it brings to the students as they give back to their community. Thanks to you, the parents, for making this all possible. You guys are awesome.
Thanks for your continuous support of the middle school.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
Middle School Principal
