Middle School Principal’s Letter
Thank you for reading this week’s edition of the News and Views. We had a great final week of learning and fun. Our students and teachers are looking forward to resting and relaxing during our Winter holiday.
Our Grade six students encourage tourism to Egypt! On Sunday, December 15th, the sixth-graders convened for a series of presentations on promoting tourism to Egypt. Students were prompted by seeking an answer to the following question: “Can we make a video that will make tourists excited to see Ancient Egypt?” The students, in groups of three, prepared an answer to that question by providing a select group of panelists with a presentation, travel brochure, and 90-second video. While the videos were a blend of various themes, they all shared a universal message: encouraging tourism to some of the most important historical sites Egypt has to offer.
Mr. Kasal provided the students with the content background, while Mr. Miller provided assistance with the technology behind the making of the videos. In five weeks, students were able to come away with a strong background in Ancient Egyptian history, as well as an understanding of cinematography. Additionally, students had the opportunity to hone their presentation and persuasive writing skills.
A special thank you goes out to the panelists that supported the event: Ms. Suzy Ezzat, Mr. Sam Werberg, Ms. Engy Rabie, Mr. Kareem Alaasar, Ms. Danya Amin, Mr. Matthew Miller, Ms. Adrianna Savvides and Ms. Dolly Shalaby.
We hope to see you next year as the next group of 6th graders takes on the challenge of raising awareness and supporting tourism to Egypt!
Congratulations to our eighth-graders who completed their Constitution Comparison presentation this week.
We finished our week with a House Field Day event that provided students and teachers with fun-filled experiences throughout the day. In the morning, the Elementary students joined the Middle school students for a variety of friendly events, such as basketball and soccer shootouts, relays, the hungry hippo game, and Elf train. In the afternoon, the Middle school students watched the movie “The Year Without Santa Claus.” The pictures in this week’s News and Views will provide a peek into the fun our students had during the day’s events. Special thanks to all of the students and teachers for their enthusiastic participation, our student House Captains for their leadership, and the primary organizers of the day: Ms. Petrovna, and Ms. Hassuna. To all teachers who ran an event and helped with supporting a house, a huge Thank you! (Photos)

We wish you merry reading!
The CAC Libraries wish you a vacation full of reading and books, wherever your travels take you.
Remember that we have ebooks and digital audiobooks available through the Sora app, which you can find on all the app stores. You will be asked for a “Follett account” when you first log in. That’s just your CAC single sign on. There are lots of great fiction and nonfiction titles available. Use the preferences menu to tailor the experience to your tastes and reading interests.
Thank you, Mervat!
We will bid farewell to Mervat Thabet, who has been a library assistant at CAC for 34 years. Ms. Thabet has been a backbone of our library program and is a font of knowledge about the technical aspects of our libraries. She will be sorely missed. Happily, we will be able to bring her back for special projects that require her expertise, so she’s still a part of our CAC community.
New MHS library hours
With Ms. Thabet’s retirement, we will have to adjust our openings hours. The MHS library will be open from 7:45 to 4 pm Sundays to Thursdays, starting on January 19. Saturday openings will remain the same, from 10 to 2, on most Saturdays, starting January 18.
