Middle School Principal’s Letter
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. The month of the Holy Ramadan is a time of good deeds, charity, mercy, and forgiveness. I am wishing that Ramadan will bring peace and happiness in your life and to your family. Ramadan Karim!
We posted our first set of Progress Reports last week since we started e-learning. We believe that this brief snapshot of learning will provide students and parents with valuable information about the progress being made towards academic learning online. This past Monday during Advisory check-in, students spent time with their advisors discussing areas for sustainability and improvement for the upcoming e-learning weeks.
This is a standard process that we normally go through in preparation for Student-Led Conferences, which were originally scheduled on May 5th. However, we thought it would be best to move them to Tuesday, May 12th. Before that day, we will provide you with some talking points for you to use as you open up a dialogue with your child about e-learning. If you could take a picture while the conversation is taking place and send it to us, we would like to create a collage to share with our community.
We are about to send our Yearbook to the print shop to get published. However, we would like to know in advance how many of you would like to purchase a copy. This time around, the yearbook will be special, as it will serve as a historical piece of evidence for all our students. There will be so much to remember about the 2019/20 school year. Be sure to purchase a copy of the yearbook that gave us a new normal. More information about how to request a book will be provided on Sunday’s morning announcements.
Thank you to the parents who attended the principal coffee morning on Wednesday. For those who were unable to attend the link will be in the morning announcement for your perusal. The topic of discussion was Spark Hope Now. “Hope is not a strategy but instead hope is an umbrella for when the raindrops of fear, keep falling on your heart.”
Thanks for your continuous support of the middle school.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
Middle School Principal
Announcements
Thank you, White Army!
“Thank you to all the “white army” (doctors and nurses) for protecting the Egyptian people, for putting in so much effort, putting themselves at risk, and for caring about every Egyptian’s life. We wish you safety… May God bless you.

Last week, two CAC buses loaded with 300 hot meals & drinks were delivered to Abu el Reesh public children hospital in Munira, downtown. A symbolic, compassionate gesture to say “THANK YOU” to the dedicated staff working there. Meals were provided and funded by Fino Bakery.
We also had over 300 masks delivered. These were beautifully made by an NGO that supports Sudanese Refugees.
Masks were donated by the Cairo USA Girl Scouts Overseas Council.
CAC Team, Mr. Bailey, Mr. Williams & Ms. Ereeny personally thanking Dr. Rasha El Gamal, the Hospital Manager who is sending all CAC community her heartfelt gratitude.
Thank you to Fino Bakery, the Cairo Girl Scouts & the CAC Team for making this happen.

Curbside delivery of print library books
The CAC libraries will continue to provide curbside delivery of library books. Patrons need to place a hold on a title by 8 am of the day of pick up, and the book – if it’s in the library – will be delivered to the front gate for pick up between 12 and 3 pm. Please note this is only on business days, so this next Sunday there will not be a curbside delivery.
Please follow instructions here for placing holds.
PARENTS: All parents at CAC are listed in the ES catalog, so you will need to log in on the ES library side even if you wish to place holds on MHS books.
See here for a short video tutorial on how to place holds on MHS books from the ES catalog.
Enjoy our ebooks and digital audiobooks
We have lots and lots of titles available on Sora, the e-reading app. Download Sora to your mobile device or visit soraapp.com. You will need to log in with your CAC single sign on when you are asked for a Follett account.
Here is a brief video tutorial on how to use Sora.
PARENTS: If you would like to see titles for you, please click on the little binoculars at the bottom of the screen on the app, then click on “Preferences”. There you can change the audience to “general adult”.
By default, Sora will limit students in the ES to the “juvenile” audience level so they will not see the young adult and general adult titles.
