Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a fun week for students. We added more activities for the students to participate in during lunchtime.
Although our students can’t play competitively, yet they are finding ways to improve their skills.

Today, we had a celebration assembly to recognize the 5 Es award winner, the MathCounts athletes, and the Core Values Award recipients. The Core Values Award is a semester award given to students who have exemplified one of the core values regularly during class. There is anecdotal evidence provided by the teacher that is read aloud to highlight what the students did to receive the award.

We have communicated with you through email that next week we will have Parent-Teacher Conferences. The Middle School Parent-Teacher Conference days are an excellent opportunity to visit campus (virtually) and discuss your daughter’s or son’s academic progress with teachers. Middle School Online Parent-Teacher Conferences will occur on Tuesday, March 9 from 3:15 p.m. to 5:05 p.m. and all day on Wednesday, March 10 from 7:45 a.m. to 4:10 p.m. These conferences with your son’s/daughter’s teachers are highly encouraged to discuss your child’s academic progress.

There will be no school on Wednesday, March 10th, for Middle School students.
Students are encouraged to attend with their parents on conference days, and individual teachers may require student attendance.

Conferences are made in ten-minute intervals through the online sign-ups on SKYWARD. Parent Sign-ups for conferences begin on Monday, March 1st, and run through Sunday, March 8th, closing at 3:00 p.m., allowing you to select your time slots to meet with teachers. Sign-ups will be done on SKYWARD. The meetings will be held via the WebEx platform. To access the WebEx link, parents must log in with their CAC Google accounts. We strongly encourage you to do this in advance, to ensure a smooth conference day. For more details, please check this link; and video tutorial, please check this link.

Please note that MS/HS cross-over teachers will ONLY be available for online conferences on Wednesday, March 10th. The cross-over teachers are Ms. Sarah Christensen, Mr. Alexander Dzamashvili, and Mr. Ian McCuaig.

I am proud of our students and teachers for all they are accomplishing since we returned to face-to-face learning.

Thanks for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,

Courtney Bailey
Middle School Principal

Ramadan Donations
We’d like to overwhelm our General Services Staff at CAC with Ramadan Boxes this year. We are appreciative of all the hard work that’s taken place due to the circumstances we’ve all been living (and sending our children to school) through!
PTO wants your participation and giving hearts—please consider donating towards more than 1 box!

PTO General Monthly Meeting Presentation
We were recently able to hear from our Head of School, ES, MS, & HS Principals, and administrators about some upcoming changes for CAC in the areas of leadership, curricula, teaching, well-being, staffing, facilities and home-school partnership. This took place at last month’s PTO general membership meeting.
If you couldn’t make it, take a look at the powerpoint presentation, located on our PTO Blog (you’ll need to login to your CAC account for access): http://blogs.cacegypt.org/ptobooster/2021/03/03/hos-principals-a…tation-available/

CAC Talks Recording
A big THANK YOU goes out to our very own Head of School, Dr. Jared Harris for our last CAC Talks session (recorded on March 1, 2021). During this session, Dr. Harris shared his passion and knowledge to equip parents with tools to help their kids with study skills for now and in life ahead!

Recording is now available straight from the PTO Archives. Please click on the link for access (CAC account required for login):

CAC Libraries open Saturdays in March
The libraries will be open this Saturday and March 13 and 20. The libraries will not be open on either Saturday of the spring break. Remember that you must book a 30-minute time slot on the CAC dashboard, but parents can only book for a Saturday appointment. (You can reach the booking system from the school app as well.) Bookings must be made by 7 pm on Friday.

Document with all Saturday open dates for the libraries can be found here.

#MahaMooTakesOver

In the last month, we have had a grade 12 student help us in the library with different tasks. One of them has been to create content for the MHS library’s Instagram page. Follow us and see Maha’s fun and colorful content. My favorites are the book reviews. Do comment on the posts to encourage her to continue with her efforts.
