Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was another busy week in Middle School with the taking of advisory and individual photos.
In the classroom of our grade eight Language Arts, students were improving their vocabulary through the use of board games.
In grade six Social Studies, the students were working on the Geography of Egypt.
Last week we had a fun Welcome Back Social for students. It was beautiful to see students running around with a smile on their faces, on the basketball court, soccer field, and in the swimming pool.
Kudos to the Booster Cafe volunteers; Seema Saurav, Karen Ortega, Elisabeth Kennedy, Brooke Fuser, Shaina Anderson, Carmen Allison, and Rhea Jacob for serving tirelessly from 3:30 pm – 7:30 pm. Our students were thrilled to have the opportunity to buy from the cafe again.
We will be doing MAP testing next week on Monday and Wednesday. I want to encourage you to make sure your child is getting sufficient sleep the night before, as well as a good breakfast the morning of the test.
Next week we will celebrate Peace Day. Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on September 21st. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire. In the advisory, our students will be writing a sentence about what “Peace” means to them.
We would like to ask all students to wear white on Tuesday, September 21st. Unfortunately, for our assembly, parents are not allowed to attend. Therefore we will record the celebration and share the link in the morning announcements and News and Views next week.
You are invited to attend a Grade 6 Parent Tea on Monday, September 20th, from 3:30 to 4:30 pm in Room 115. During this session, Grade 6 teachers will provide you with information, strategies, resources, and tools for students’ academic success and social-emotional wellbeing.
Upcoming Grade 7 Parent Tea will take place on Wednesday, September 22nd, at 8:15 am in room 115. This will be followed by the Grade 8 Parent Tea on October 5, at 8:15 am in room 115. Please be on the lookout for an invite.
Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.
