Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a week for us to focus on the student’s social and emotional well-being.

We had an ERD day on Monday, and we took the half-day to offer an array of sessions that reflected student’s requests/needs. Some of the sessions offered were; My Body Rocks, 7 Habits of Teen Leaders, Student superpowers, Relaxing through Art, Functional Fitness, All Day Wellbeing, Shifting My Mindset, and Happiness Hacks. It was a fun day for students to learn about themselves and practice Positive Health which is one of the domain topics of Positive Education.

One of the major themes of the Wellbeing Day is how much anxiety our students are struggling with. The students shared that they are stressed out about assessments and presentations. Although it is good to be nervous, we don’t want students to be stressed. We ask that you remind your child that their test score does not represent who they are as a person. All we can expect from them is that they do their best.

The grade six advisory have completed their fundraiser for the African Hope School. They managed to raise (30000LE) so far. In the coming weeks, volunteers will be going shopping to purchase supplies for the AHS.

Here is a sample of how our students are practicing the core value of creativity. The artwork below was made from plaster, not actual paper. The frames were made with scraps of wood from the design technology classroom.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal
