Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. I want to wish you and your family a Happy New Year and welcome you all back for the start of the second semester!
Thank you for adhering to mitigation requirements while coming to campus. Take some time to review mitigation precautions with your children, and avoid large gatherings or crowded locations where mitigation protocols are not followed. Our mitigation protocols throughout the pandemic have proven to help minimize COVID-19 transmission at school, and we believe this will continue.
In the coming weeks/months, we must continue to work closely together to ensure our community’s safety and provide a safe campus for students to learn. The scientific evidence is clear that the single most important step that every person can take is to get COVID-19 vaccination when/if possible. If your child is eligible for vaccination, please consider this critical step that will help end the pandemic in the long term. The global transmission rate of Omicron is alarming – vaccination for every eligible person is needed and highly encouraged.
This is a reminder that we will be posting semester one report cards on Thursday, January 20th. We hope that you will find the information about your child both valuable and informative. When you view the reports next Thursday, we encourage you to talk with your child about their Approaches to Learning (ATL’s). While we report separately on these, we see a direct correlation between learning traits and academic success.
With the sudden uptake of the Omicron virus, we will be postponing PRIME Trips to a later date(TBA). Once we have decided on a date, we will be communicating it to you.
I want you to join me in welcoming the six new families who joined us for the second semester. We are happy to have you as valued members of our CAC family. I want to also thank those families for taking the time to attend the new parent’s orientation session.
Thank you for your continuous support of the Middle School.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal

World Scholar’s Cup 2022
Are you interested in global issues and current events?
Do you enjoy debate or public speaking?
Are you ready to face the alpacalypse?
If you answered YES, we NEED YOU for this year’s World Scholar’s Cup program.
The World Scholar’s Cup is a fun, challenging and competitive international program for students who enjoy being stretched and pushed out of their comfort zone. Each year, the World Scholar’s Cup is organized around a single interdisciplinary theme. Students use this theme to learn more about global issues from Science, Social Studies, the Arts, Literature, History and Current Affairs. During the competition, students work in teams of three to demonstrate their knowledge through debate, writing, and quizzes. This course will prepare students for competing in the Cairo Regional Round and beyond.

The World Scholar’s Cup will meet on Sundays after winter break, in MS115.

The Power of Making Thinking Visible
Presented by Mark Church
Co-Author; Making Thinking Visible & The Power Of Making Thinking Visible
Over the last decade there has been an explosion of interest in building a culture of thinking, and nurturing students as powerful thinkers and learners. In this time of disrupted learning, thinking routines are more important than ever, and help advance a broader goal to create classrooms where students’ thinking is visible, valued, and actively promoted. This webinar will explore and engage participants in thinking routines and the power of making thinking visible.
