Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. The students had a great week of exploring, learning, and having fun on the PRIME Trips. We were lucky to have fantastic weather, and they returned every day tired but with a smile on their faces.
We have shared with you the sign up link for the Parent Teacher Conference in April, and we want to encourage you to sign up using your CAC email on SKYWARD. To avoid missing out, sign up as soon as possible.
We will be posting the Second semester progress reports on April 7th. We will be communicating ATLs and current grades. All new students will receive a comment along with students who are getting a R (rarely) or N (not yet). We only have two full months remaining in the school year; we are hoping that conversations with your child are about how they could finish the year strong?
During the week, the 8th graders had an opportunity to have a Futures Day with alumni guest speakers the list includes:
1. Amina Naguib (alumna and current CAC parent to ES & MS students)
2. Ahmed El-Hoshy (alumnus)
3. Osman Zarkani (alumnus and uncle to MS student in grade 8- Noah Zarkani)
4. Sherif El-Halwagy (alumnus)
5. Amal Soliman (alumna, current CAC parent, and CAC Board member)
The 8th-graders also had the opportunity to spend time with the high school principal talking about what they will miss most about middle school? Here is what they had to say:
“How the teachers always make the class fun”. “The teachers who helped to shape my personality.” “I have only been here for a year but this school is so special to me. The community is so welcoming, the teachers are so helpful and nice, advisory, activities and spirit week.”
Mr. Buckman also asked what special things you will bring to the high school? Here are the responses: “ I will bring an open mind and positive energy.” “I will bring my ability to play sports, do math and a strong moral compass.” “My desire to make our school better.” I wanted to share that because we believe the 8th-graders are ready for the challenge that awaits them as they continue their educational journey into high school next fall.
Based on our CAC community data and the recent updates to recommended mitigation in schools globally, we have arrived at the point in the pandemic to shift to mask wearing being optional indoors for all faculty, staff, and students effective Sunday April 3. Those who feel more comfortable wearing masks indoors are encouraged to do so. Mask wearing has not been required outdoors since the start of our 21-22 school year.
We will remain in phase 3 as positive cases across the school will continue with the pandemic. Phase 3 still requires extensive indoor mitigation: active ventilation through HVAC/fans, passive ventilation through windows/doors ajar, air purification, maintaining excellent personal hygiene, and cleaning protocols. Contact tracing and all other phase 3 mitigations will remain in place as outlined in our updated Covid-19 Operation Manual. At any time CAC may return to more restrictive mitigations based on significant changes in pandemic conditions affecting our community.
Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal
