Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a fun week of teaching and learning in middle school.

On Tuesday night, the board of directors had their first open forum. The STUCO council officers had an opportunity to share their goals for the school year. I am always amazed at how well our students are at presenting publicly to an audience.

As you are aware, we will be having a three-day week next week before having a four-day weekend. The Sunday after the weekend, students are about to embark on the first day of PRIME Trips. Students not attending the PRIME Trips are expected to join the Cairo – based trip. I would like to remind you that students who do not attend the Cairo-based trip will receive an unexcused absence. The trips are a part of the school’s ethos, and it is a way for us to build lasting relationships early on in the year, with students to students and students to teachers.

We will host Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday, October 24th, and Tuesday, October 25th. On Monday, we will have a virtual conference on Webex from 3:30 – 5:00 pm. Parents who would like to attend the online conference can sign up on the link that will be shared on October 9th. Please keep in mind that there are only a few slots available. On Tuesday, October 25th from 8:00 – 3:45 pm we will have an arena style on the grade level floor. The grade six core teachers will be on the 1st floor, the seventh grade on the 2nd floor, and the eighth grade on the 3rd floor. The elective teachers will be in their classrooms in the building. We will be sending out a separate email inviting all parents to the parent-teacher conference.

We are halfway through the Common Sense Media curriculum. I wanted to share this link with you so you can have meaningful conversations with your children.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal
