Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a week of celebrations with the Halloween Red Carpet Costume Parade sponsored by the Booster Club moms. Students also had the opportunity to work on goal setting during the advisory session.

The energy on campus on Monday was exceptional. For those who entered the campus that morning, you saw something unique in line with the spirit of Halloween. To quote one teacher, “I felt like I was in a Miyazaki film this morning. So ethereal and mesmerizing. A beautiful performance of art.”

Last Thursday, we concluded a busy week in middle school with the STUCO Halloween social. It was a fantastic evening of good clean fun. Students were able to come together and have fun being themselves, most importantly, screen-free!

Thank you to all the parents who attended the Principal coffee morning. It is always great to have these moments to share what we are doing in the classroom to support students.

In Studio Art, students are busy working in a flow state as they put the finishing touches on their work.

In design technology, middle schoolers work independently. Some students were creating their artifacts for the Mesopotamia projects, while others were expanding their knowledge and unleashing their creativity.

In grade 6 Science, the students used a fun interactive game called Blooket for review. It is quick formative assessments or brain boosts throughout the class. These types of games break down student performance on the teacher’s end. Mr. Vogel designed the slides for the classes to be Halloween-themed. This helped to engage students and make classes even more fun.

In grade 7 Social Studies, the students evaluate different countries’ energy choices. The students rank the energy choices using a scale of 1-5 (1 being the best, five being the worst). If a country currently uses less than five, the students had to add other energy options for their rationale.

This morning we had a surprise guest on campus. The middle and elementary school students were fortunate enough today to meet “Frankie the Dino” who is in Cairo for the COP27 summit. It was impressive to hear how much our students know about Climate change and what they want to see done to provide a better future for them. Shokran to Mr. Fracassetti, a CAC parent who made this possible.

Today we have the MS Talent Show. Throughout the years, this was always a highlight for the students and parents, and I know today’s show will not be any less exhilarating. We are looking forward to sharing this wonderful experience with everyone.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal
