Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was great to have everyone return safely from Spring Break and start the week positively. This break was timely, and we all benefited from it.
This weekend we are hosting the Cairo Round of the World Scholar’s Cup on the 17th and 18th of March. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to demonstrate their knowledge of history, writing, and debating.
This is a reminder to be on the lookout for the letter with information on how to sign-up for parent-teacher conferences on March 28th and 29th; it will be shared with you via email.
As we continue to broach the topic of disruption, we are about to launch two new courses in the middle school for next year: 2050 and Disruptive Innovation and Technology. We are excited about what these new course offerings will do for our students. To quote the great one, Wayne Gretzky, “I skate to where the puck is going, not to where it has been.” That same adage is critical for our strategy. The world isn’t static. Your strategy should lead to the future, not respond to the present.
We are looking ahead with Adrianna Brownlee kicking off the speaker series. We are excited to bring in another disruptive individual who has not only made a mark in the Chinese film industry but did so while doing MBA programs at Harvard and Cambridge university at the same time. Tony Nicholson, the second speaker, will be on campus during the week of April 2nd – 6th.
This is a reminder that Monday, March 20th, we will have an ERD day with early dismissal at 11:30 am.
Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal

Continue to develop community practices within the home to increase your confidence as a parent and develop a plan for those (inevitable) challenging times. Learn practical tools and habits that anyone – a caregiver or not – can apply to their lives.
This 4-part series will explore effective communication, child development, wellbeing, behavioral psychology, and positive parenting as a way to create an environment where children (and adults) are encouraged and engaged, and feel a sense of connection, value and belonging.
