Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a week of exploring, learning, and having fun.

Thanks to all teachers for completing progress report two in semester one. During this reporting period, you will receive ATLs and academic grades. All students receiving Rarely and Not Yet, along with new students, will receive a comment.

When discussing report cards with students, parents need to approach the conversation in a positive and supportive manner. Here are two potential approaches to discussing report cards with students:

-First, celebrate strengths and progress by starting the conversation highlighting the areas where the student has shown improvement or succeeded. Acknowledge their hard work and effort in those areas. This helps build their confidence and motivation to continue working on their academic goals.

-Secondly, set goals for improvement and Identify areas where the student may need additional support or improvement. Discuss these areas with your child and involve them in setting specific goals for improvement. Encourage them to develop strategies or action plans to work towards those goals. This helps students take ownership of their learning and develop a growth mindset.

Remember, the goal of discussing report cards with students is to encourage reflection, growth, and a sense of responsibility for their learning. By focusing on strengths and setting goals for improvement, parents can help students develop a positive attitude toward their academic progress.

The sixth-graders in physical education were learning how to play water polo while having fun.

A reminder that our student athletes have been training hard to participate in the Pharoach’s Cup on November 19 – 20th. We would like to extend an invitation to all parents to come out and support the athletes. Those parents who have volunteered to host a student, your support is greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your continuous support of middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal

All Pro Dad November Meeting
Hello everyone! The next CAC All Pro Dad meeting is scheduled for 16 November.

All Pro Dad is a monthly gathering where dads get to intentionally engage with their kids!
This of course is not just limited to dads, but all children must be accompanied by an adult.
There will be fun activities and a character-based curriculum that helps parents start meaningful conversations with their kids.

The next meeting is scheduled for 16 November at 7:00 am and we would love to see you there.

November’s topic is Compassion. A person who has compassion is moved by others’ suffering and offers them support and sympathy. When we’re compassionate with people who are enduring something tough, we show them that we care and that they’re not alone.

If you would like to come, please RSVP here! https://allprodadchapters.com/chapters/13407

From the PTO
We started the week with our General Meeting on Sunday afternoon. We are grateful to all the people who attended. Please find detailed minutes here.

Our drive for contributions in support of General Services Staff Appreciation has already gotten off to a great start. We need to keep up the momentum to reach our goal ahead of the event on November 20th. For your reference, each meal for this event costs 1000le and we are aiming to provide for 180 staff and their families. Please see the flyer for how to contribute.

We are organizing for a winter bazaar and are looking for interested vendors.

Thank you for being a part of our community #loveCACPTO

COMING UP! on Monday, Nov. 20
The 10th Annual General Services Staff (GSS) Appreciation Lunch
The GSS Appreciation Lunch has been a CAC tradition since 2013 where the entire CAC community comes together to show appreciation for our hard-working GSS teams. These teams are the: security guards, janitors, gardeners, bus monitors, drivers, car washers, electricians, painters & and carpenters. A total of 170 members. On that day, we organize the packing of delivered meals relying on the generous contributions of the CAC community. This event was initiated by an ES, Han Byul Lee who is now an Alumna of the Class of 2020. Check her VIDEO on the CAC Facebook Page.
