Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s News and Views. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I want to extend my warmest wishes to all of you. I hope you take full advantage of the upcoming three-day weekend to enjoy quality time with family and friends and reflect on the many blessings in your lives.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the sixth-grade parents who attended the EgyptFest Interdisciplinary Showcase. This event culminated twelve weeks of hard work, with students dedicating one hour each week to collaborative, creative, and intensive research. The presentation video showcased the students’ outstanding resilience, communication, and critical thinking skills.
It was truly inspiring to witness the students’ dedication and passion throughout the process, not one student inquired about grades. Guided by a clear rubric, they independently planned and executed their final products demonstrating that deep learning and enjoyment go hand in hand. This state of immersive engagement, often referred to as “flow,” reflects the joy of learning at its finest. We are incredibly proud of the pride and enthusiasm our students displayed during the event.
We are also happy to welcome back our coaches Coach Torky, Coach Deakin, Coach Perez, and Coach White and the 12 boys and 12 girls who represented our school with pride at the Teranga Cup exchange in Senegal. The journey was no small feat, requiring a 24-hour trip both ways, yet our student-athletes demonstrated exceptional perseverance and sportsmanship.
Congratulations to our boys’ teams for winning the volleyball championship and securing second place in basketball. Although the girls’ teams did not achieve top results, they played with remarkable heart and determination. As one parent beautifully expressed, “They all returned safely, their smiles as bright and their energy as infectious as ever.” We are immensely proud of their efforts and resilience.
A special thank you to the parents who joined us for the Coffee Morning on Wednesday. These gatherings provide valuable opportunities to reflect on our first semester and discuss preparations for the upcoming term.
Looking ahead, we want to remind you that, to better support our eighth-grade students, we will be implementing letter grades and percentages for their summative assessments during the second semester. The workload will be more demanding as our dedicated teachers ensure that students are fully prepared for the academic challenges of the next grade level.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we create an environment where learning flourishes, talents are nurtured, and every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Also, on December 3rd and 4th, we will have our Winter Music Concert in the theater. We would love to have you support our musicians.
Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to another beautiful week ahead!
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal
