Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s edition of News and Views. We’ve had a productive week filled with review sessions and summative assessments, and now we’re just seven days away from the Winter Break!
As we approach the final stretch, please help your child prepare for their summative assessments by:
- Collecting their phones during study time.
- Providing a quiet, visible study space.
- Setting a timer: 45 minutes of focused study followed by a 15-minute break.
- Checking in periodically to ensure they stay on task.
Congratulations to Mr. McCuaig and Mr. Dzamashvili for organizing two wonderful evenings of music! It was a joy for our community to come together and experience the uplifting performances. The choir, strings, and band students did an incredible job, and their efforts truly shone through. The musical selections added a festive touch, brightening the holiday season for all who attended.
On Wednesday, our sixth-grade students proudly presented their Egyptfest interdisciplinary unit to fifth and seventh graders. Their enthusiasm and sense of pride were evident as they shared their learning journey.
During Math class students have been diligently preparing for their summative assessments.
In Physical Education class students are learning how to safely put on a harness in preparation for the upcoming Project Adventure Unit.
As we near the end of Semester One, we’re excited about the upcoming drama performances. We are inviting you to join us for a Cabaret Performance on December 10th, 2024, at 4:30 p.m.
The show will last about an hour. We look forward to seeing you there!
Starting next semester, there will be changes to our tardy policy. After eight tardies, students will serve an in-school detention from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. Parents will be notified, and if your child takes the early bus, alternative transportation arrangements will need to be made.
We encourage you and your child to visit the library and sign out books for the Winter Break. Balancing reading time with phone use is crucial for maintaining healthy habits. Please check your email for overdue book notifications.
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to make this a successful and rewarding end to the semester.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal
