Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a solid week of teaching and learning. I hope you enjoy the long weekend and quality family time.
What makes the first half different than the second half of the year? The teachers know their students better than they did in the first half. They have made those connections and have had conversations and discussions with all of them. The teachers understand them as learners and how they work as individuals or in a group. Also, teachers have a better perspective of who the child is and their strengths and weaknesses. Their teachers have gained their respect by showing them that learning is like climbing a mountain. In the second semester, the student understands that learning is about ascents and descents and that there is great success with every failure.
In grade eight math class, the students work in differentiated groups, and the teacher goes around and meets with each group.
In grade seven social studies, the students are on committees representing their country in an international parliament to create a new global space treaty. As committee members, they may have differing points of view and must come to a compromise that would benefit everyone if possible.
A reminder that Semester One Reports will be posted today at 3:05 pm. Please note that you will need your CAC email to access the reports. We encourage you to review the feedback with your child to celebrate successes and identify areas for growth.
Today we met with the current grade seven to review the course selection process in Skyward for the 2025-26 school year. The window will be open on Skyward from Jan 23rd to Jan 28th at 3:05pm. On January 29th we will go through the same process with the current grade six class in preparation for the upcoming school year.
Here are some upcoming highlights:
- Talent Show (January, 30th): Mark your calendars and get your ticket. You won’t want to miss an evening of exciting performances by our talented students.
- We will be hosting a Career Day on February 20th. You should have received an email inviting you to participate. Please respond to Ms. Spencer if you are interested. (bspencer@cacegypt.org).
- Mr. McCauig will travel to Tunis on Wednesday for the AMIS Choir and Band concert. We have only one student who was selected to represent CAC in the Band portion of the program, and that is Yujin Jung.
Thank you for your continued support of the Middle School.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
