Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s News and Views. It has been a fantastic week for our students, highlighted by Spirit Week.

First and foremost, to those celebrating the Holy Month of Ramadan, I extend my best wishes for a Happy Ramadan.

Our Spirit Week featured a friendly competition to determine which grade level was the most organized. Each day had a different theme, and the week culminated with a lively gym assembly this afternoon, where students were crowned as grade-level kings and queens for participating in various activities. The excitement and enthusiasm were incredible. I want to thank Ms. Torky, Ms. Fides, Ms. Genidy, and the Student Council for all their hard work in making this event so enjoyable.

We also celebrated Heritage Day on Tuesday, coordinated by our World Language Department. I appreciate Mr. El Bably, Madame Istanbouli, and Ms. Colado Cabo for arranging the open mic sessions and the heritage food potluck. Students and staff were treated to delicious food and great performances at lunchtime.

I hope you have taken a moment to review your child’s Approaches to Learning (ATLs) with them. As mentioned before, a strong connection exists between students’ ATL skills and their overall academic performance. Students are more likely to learn and achieve as expected when these skills are strong.

Thank you for your continued support of the Middle School.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal

HS Course Request Verification Form
Hello, Grade 8 families,

On Monday, March 3rd, your student will bring home the course request verification form for next year’s classes (It will be distributed in Advisory). Please look it over with your student that evening. Both of you should sign the form so the student can return it to school on Tuesday, March 4th to Advisory, and the high school team will retrieve them from there. If your student needs to make any additions or changes, please write the new request on the form so when it is collected, the counselors can follow up with you and the student soon. Likewise, if you have any questions, please email Ms. Bean directly. The final due date for us to collect the returned forms is Thursday, March 6th.

FYI, any ELL or LSS classes will be added later in spring, and we will be in communication with those families in coordination with the ELL/LSS teams.  Also, we will verify the world language selections later in spring in case there are any changes to the recommendations.

Thanks,
Claudia Bean
