Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for reading this week’s News and Views. As the school year quickly draws to a close, many moments are worth celebrating.

Last Thursday, we held our final social event of the school year, and it was a joyful evening for our students. We thank our amazing chaperones: Ms. Torky, Ms. Genidy, Ms. Urbiztondo, Mr. A. White, Mr. J. White, Mr. Hines, Mr. Said, and Ms. Colado Cobo. Your support made the event both fun and safe for our students.

We also appreciated the sixth- and seventh-grade parents who attended the PRIME Trip presentations. These sessions gave families insight into the learning experiences their children will engage in during their grade-level trips. Each middle school grade participates in a week-long trip thoughtfully designed to connect with curriculum goals, an important and memorable part of the Middle School experience.

It was a pleasure to welcome the parents of our incoming fifth graders and introduce them to life in Middle School. These conversations are always meaningful, as they help us explain the unique developmental importance of the middle years in a student’s academic journey.

Our eighth-grade students recently took an overnight field trip to El Alamein, where they visited the War Museum and Memorial Cemeteries as part of their World War II studies. They will showcase their learning during the final week of school. Please stay tuned for details on the date and time.

We’re excited to welcome families to our Student-Led Conferences on May 20th. This is a special opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning by reflecting on and sharing their growth and accomplishments with you.

This morning, we gathered to honor the memory of Nadia Rashad by adding her name to the tombstone in the Memorial Garden. Nadia was our playground monitor for over 20 years and was lovingly known as the “Grandmother of Maadi”. Her commitment to the community extended beyond our campus, and her determination played a key role in the clean-up and beautification of the Midans in Maadi. She leaves a lasting legacy, and we are grateful for how she enriched our lives.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our Middle School.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal

MS End-of-Year Library & Textbook Return Reminder

Dear Middle School Students, Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to remind you that all library and MS books are due back by Sunday, May 18th

All books should be returned to the MHS Library and not directly to teachers.

If your child has overdue materials, you will have been receiving weekly email notices listing the specific items that need to be returned. As the deadline approaches, these notices will become daily reminders. Please review these emails carefully—they include a full list of any outstanding items.

If any books have been lost, please contact the librarians directly to request an invoice. You will then take the invoice to the CAC cashier, make the payment, and return the stamped receipt to the library as proof of payment. Only once we have received this receipt will your child’s account be cleared.

Please note that if materials are not returned or paid for by May 25th, your Skyward account will be blocked. This means:
-You will not be able to access your child’s report card at the end of the school year.
-If the account remains blocked into the summer, you will not be able to access student schedules at the start of the next school year.

We strongly encourage you to take action now to avoid any disruption.
If you have questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us by email.

Thank you for your cooperation and support!

Warm regards,

Meghan Ennis
