Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s News and Views. It’s been a lively and eventful week, filled with assessments and joyful end-of-year celebrations in Drama.

As we approach the end of the school year, we prepare to say farewell to many families who have enriched our community over the years. To those embarking on new adventures, we encourage you to embrace your next school with an open heart. Every place is unique, and each holds its own special charm. To our students who are transitioning to new schools, know that we wish you all the very best. You will always be a part of us. Once a Screaming Eagle, always a Screaming Eagle.

This year also marks a significant goodbye for our middle school team. We are saying farewell to Ms. Fides, who has been a cornerstone of CAC for 12 years. Her impact spans all three divisions of the school. As she retires and steps into an exciting new chapter of life, we extend our deepest gratitude. If you have a chance, please stop by to thank her in person, it would mean the world to her.

As the year winds down, we have much to celebrate and be thankful for. Our students remain engaged and hardworking right up to the final week of school. We’re especially excited for the World War II Simulation next Sunday, and we warmly invite all eighth-grade parents to attend this culminating event.

A special shoutout goes to our Musical Cabaret students for their outstanding performance on Monday night. Writing and performing their own monologues took real courage and creativity. As always, our students shone brightly on stage, delivering their work with pride and confidence.

As we conclude another successful academic year, we kindly remind all students to return any borrowed school equipment, including library books, chargers, and athletic uniforms, to the appropriate offices. Prompt return ensures continued access to Skyward and helps us prepare for a smooth start to next year. We appreciate your cooperation!

Thank you, as always, for your continued support of our Middle School community.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal

Save the date: August 17th- Grade 9 Orientation

Hello, Grade 8 families,
Earlier this week, the high school counselors met with the current 8th graders during their advisory in the high school building to continue our communication about the transition to 9th grade. As you know, we met with them earlier this spring for their course selections and an introduction to high school. This week, we had them meet some of our Grade 9 teachers in person so they could go over some concepts of what to expect in their classes next year. We also had a Grade 9 Student Panel talk to them about topics that are important for a smooth transition to high school, such as time management, grading, Study Hall, off campus privileges, and general expectations as a high schooler and more.

We hope that putting names to faces of some high school teachers and high school peers will help set the 8th graders at ease as they envision their life next year as a high schooler. We will continue to provide information at the upcoming orientation for them in August.

Please have your 8th graders mark their calendar for Grade 9 Orientation on Sunday, August 17th from 12 noon to 1 pm. Parents do NOT need to attend, but please make sure your student has transportation that day to attend their orientation on campus. We will provide them lunch at the end of orientation, and the students will receive their class schedules on that day. We will meet in the CAC theater, and then we will  have a tour of the high school building, meet more high school teachers, plus we will go over what to expect during the first few days and weeks of 9th grade.

Please email cbean@cacegypt.org if you have any questions about orientation, schedules or anything else as your 8th graders becomes a high schooler.

Your HS Counselors: C Bean, S. Petrich  & J Stiles

MS End-of-Year Library & Textbook Return Reminder

Dear Middle School Students, Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to remind you that all library and MS books were due back on Sunday, May 18th

All books should be returned to the MHS Library and not directly to teachers.

If your child has overdue materials, you will have been receiving weekly email notices listing the specific items that need to be returned. As the deadline approaches, these notices will become daily reminders. Please review these emails carefully—they include a full list of any outstanding items.

If any books have been lost, please contact the librarians directly to request an invoice. You will then take the invoice to the CAC cashier, make the payment, and return the stamped receipt to the library as proof of payment. Only once we have received this receipt will your child’s account be cleared.

Please note that if materials were not returned or paid for by May 25th, your Skyward account will be blocked. This means:
-You will not be able to access your child’s report card at the end of the school year.
-If the account remains blocked into the summer, you will not be able to access student schedules at the start of the next school year.

We strongly encourage you to take action now to avoid any disruption.
If you have questions or need assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us by email.

Thank you for your cooperation and support!

Warm regards,

Meghan Ennis
