Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear MSiddle School Parents,
Welcome to the new school year! It has been a joy to see returning students, teachers, and new families coming to campus this week.
Each school year is a chance to renew our commitment to ensuring every student is safe, feels a sense of belonging, and has the opportunity to flourish.
Our dedicated teachers have had time to recharge and are looking forward to all the possibilities this year will bring.
At the start of each academic year, we are fortunate to welcome new teachers to our team, and it is with great enthusiasm that I introduce this year’s additions:
Ms. Julia Green – (Gr. 6) – PE – joining us from Australia
Ms. Sheeen ElShendy – (Arabic) – joining us from Cairo
Mr. James Phelps – (Gr. 7) – Language Arts, coming from Honduras
Mr. Tim Chaney – Disruptive Innovation and Technology – joining us from Ecuador
Transitioning back to school after a leisurely summer can feel overwhelming for students and parents. To facilitate a smooth transition and foster a positive mindset.
I would like to share a few helpful tips:
- Gradually transition into a “school’ sleep schedule to ensure sufficient rest and encourage a positive attitude towards returning to school.
- During the first week of school, be sure to emphasize routine.
- Allocate a designated area for your child to complete homework assignments.
- Remember to keep supplies minimal and straightforward. Bulky and elaborate folders and notebooks can be cumbersome for students.
- Encourage your child to look forward to the new school year by having each person (including you) share at least two goals: one academic goal and one fun goal.
- Preparing for school the night before is another effective strategy to avoid chaotic mornings and prevent forgotten school supplies.
- Encourage your child to pack their homework in their backpack when finished.
- I encourage you to check your child’s planner every night until it becomes a routine for everyone.
Lastly, I implore you to give yourself a well-deserved break. Congratulations on successfully navigating the first four days of school, and I encourage you to schedule some time for self-care. You deserve it!
We are looking forward to working with you in our home school partnership.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
