Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for reading this week’s version of the News and Views. It was our first full week of school. The teachers and students enjoy building relationships, developing common agreements for the classroom, and exploring new ideas. Some students are creating new friendship groups.
The PRIME TRIPS play a crucial role in fostering these friendship groups. These trips provide students with a shared experience, a cornerstone in the formation of friendships. At this stage in a child’s development, friendship is the most important thing they can have. As humans, we need to connect with one another. It is how we are wired. So the best thing you can do for your child is to make this trip a reality.
Thank you to all the new parents who attended the PRIME TRIPS presentation. We greatly appreciate your participation and look forward to your continued involvement.
We live in a ‘dopamine culture,’ where tech companies have designed algorithms to captivate us with small doses of dopamine, compelling us to seek more. This has led to a noticeable shift in student’s behavior. We have observed that students in 2025 differ from those in 2020 in their approach to learning.
Research has shown the following: “That varied and representative literature builds knowledge, empathy, cultural awareness, and the ability to connect with others. Therefore, we curate and utilize text collections at all grade levels that reflect varied perspectives, cultures, and voices, enabling students to develop a deeper sense of their own intrinsic value and that of others while also fostering a greater understanding of history, their place in the world, and their role in shaping the future.” We want our students to read more, not just for academic purposes, but for the joy of reading.
A reminder that Back-to-School Night is Tuesday, September 2nd. It is an invaluable moment for teachers to build strong partnerships with the people who know students best. In essence, back-to-school night accomplishes several major goals: to help parents understand what it’s like to be a student in each class, to foster better connections with families and caregivers, and to ensure that we open the lines of communication for the upcoming year. We look forward to welcoming you and introducing you to the teachers.
On September 10th, we will hold our New Parent Coffee Morning in room 115, beginning at 8:15. Additionally, on Thursday, September 11th, we will host the Welcome Back Social after school from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. This is another way for students to bond and make new friends. It promises to be an evening of good, clean fun.
Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey

From the PTO
We’ve all completed the first full week of school! Great job, everyone!
At the start of the year, much of our focus is on building community.
One way PTO supports this is through informal WhatsApp groups that help parents connect.
Please note these are not official school communication channels.
We offer broad groups for each division (Elementary, Middle, High School), grade-level groups, and classroom groups in Elementary.
Each serves a unique purpose, so it’s helpful to join the ones relevant to you.
Division-level chats are best for announcements or questions that affect the whole division.
To share a community event, please contact a group admin who can forward your message to keep chats from becoming cluttered.
For the Elementary School, there will be one main channel for announcements and reminders.
This helps us avoid repeated messages across multiple chats and keeps communication clear and organized.
If you need a link to join, email CACPTOOC@cacegypt.org with your phone number, and our Outreach Coordinator will connect you.
We also invite all new and returning parents to a Coffee Morning on Sunday, September 7th, at 8:00 AM in the PTO Lounge (Admin building, 1st floor).
Come meet other parents, connect with the PTO team, and enjoy coffee and light refreshments as we look ahead to an exciting year!
Warm regards,
The PTO Team
