Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for reading this week’s edition of News and Views. It has been the final preparation for students and teachers before PRIME and Cairo-Based Trips.
After the fall break, it wasn’t that difficult getting back into the swing of school again, with much to look forward to.
In Grade 7 Science, students are learning about weather patterns and atmospheric pressure, and the impact it has on plants.

In Grade 6, physical education students are working on their batting skills, and the teacher has implemented the UDL practice to meet each child at their skill level.

I would like to thank the parents who attended the Coffee morning. I am out of the country attending our Fall Leadership Conference, which is why the date was changed. Here are the slides from my presentation and the handout for parents that Ms. Key and Ms. Harouny shared on how to implement a reading routine at home.
In an effort to support the PRIME and Cairo-Based Trips next week, we are asking that you take the time to go over the packing list that was shared by each trip organizer with your child. Also, do pay attention to the arrival time at school. All students must be on time so we can depart from CAC on time.
Please be on the lookout for an email with information for the Parent-Teacher Conference sign-up.
Food for thought:
We have entered the most difficult month of the school year. The stretch between the beginning of the school year and Thanksgiving is the longest of the year. We know it is difficult to return from summer and slide right into that long stretch to Thanksgiving. Students are being stretched. They are often in a new environment. Sometimes with new teachers and peers. They are facing new expectations and learning new things. In October, that “newness” starts to settle into their brain. Into their life.
I have asked every teacher to help students recognize that they are going through changes, and remind them it won’t last. They can evaluate how they might handle it better. But take a few minutes at the start of each class to help students settle in, relax, and feel comfortable.
Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey

we will be running an advisory candy donation competition to help make the Middle School Halloween Social as sweet and enjoyable as possible!
Bring in as much candy as you can each morning to your advisory teacher – please make sure:
• You bring candy that you enjoy eating.
• Please make sure that candy is individually wrapped.
• Halloween-themed candy is very much appreciated!
The advisory that brings in the most candy donations in each grade will receive Krispy Kreme donuts for advisory.
