Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a short week that took us into the Thanksgiving holiday. This is my ninth year at CAC, and it will be the first year I am not giving each teacher a handwritten note. It was a way of telling them thanks, and how much I appreciate them as educators.

Due to the emotional roller coaster of recruiting and travel from one fair to the next. I had completely lost sight of how “half-full” my glass is, and how truly blessed I am to work with such an outstanding group of educators.

Although holidays are stressful for everyone. Some people are grieving lost friends or family and people that wish they had more family and friends with which to celebrate.
I encourage you to turn any frustration you have about the upcoming holiday, into something you can be thankful for. It could sound like…
“I’m thankful that my family’s health is good.”
“I am thankful that I can send my child to a diverse school such as CAC.”
“I’m thankful I have someplace to go this break because I need to spend more time with my children.”
“I really wish my Mom or Dad were here for Thanksgiving, but I’m thankful I had many wonderful Thanksgivings with them.”

Also, at this time of year, we so easily get absorbed into our own problems and dilemmas. As we’re reframing our challenges into gratitude, let’s also try to think of others and their challenges.

Is there somebody you know that will be spending the holiday alone?… Invite them over.
Is there somebody mourning the loss of a loved one?… Tell them you’re sorry for their loss, and you’re still thinking/praying for them.

Is there somebody you’re arguing with? Brace yourself, this is a tough one but forgive them and remind them that you both should, perhaps, be thankful for whatever relationship you do have with one another. Because you never know when it may not be there one day.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and that this message inspires you to brighten the holiday for one more person!

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
Middle School Principal
