Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was another solid week of teaching and learning in middle school.
The students benefit from face-to-face learning, and I want to thank our teachers and you, the parents, for doing your part. It is clear to see we all want students back in school. However, as you are well aware, this is only possible thanks to the sacrifices we are all making in our daily lives, to follow the mitigation protocols.
In eighth-grade science, students are working with ideas concerning the inheritance of human traits. They have identified traits in themselves and their family, discussed the structure and purpose of DNA, learned the Mendelian rules of heredity, and considered the consequences of mutations and genetic disorders. As a fun activity, each student chose two superheroes and determined what traits the offspring might have if the heroes had children.
In Spanish, students are working in pairs using words and phrases to describe famous people.
In grade-six language arts, students are taking notes in a Google document to complete their essay.
In grade-six, social studies students are learning to take notes on what they learned from watching the video on Ancient India.
In grade-eight Arabic students are working in pairs practicing their communication skills for the start-up project presentation.
Kudos! To Ms. Genidy and our Public Art class for Valentine’s Day’s lovely decoration around the building. It is beautiful to see the creative side of our students shine so brightly. The hallway’s decorations remind us not to lose hope and hold on to what we value while enduring the pandemic.
We are looking forward to the start of the after school activities and athletics soon. The students are eager to get back on the field and in the pool, challenging themselves physically and mentally.
Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
Middle School Principal
