Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to read this short-week’s version of the News and Views. As you prepare to enjoy the Police Day/Revolution Day Holiday, we really want to encourage you to keep mitigation protocols at the forefront of your long weekend planning, to the best of your ability. It is in everybody’s best interest that we keep the numbers down in our community. The students are striving and thriving being social individuals. They are exploring, learning, and having fun each day. We want to keep that going. We know how crucial it is for students’ development.

With the departure of the high school students to their newly built facilities, we have been able to maximize the space, and allocate a floor to each grade level. The students have embraced the experience, and we hope to continue to utilize the space to fit their learning needs.

In Financial Literacy, students have completed their first unit called Money In Our Lives. They are currently studying Comparison Shopping. After this unit students will be understanding the following:

  • Compare saving strategies, including “Pay Yourself First” and comparison shopping.
  • Analyze how external factors, such as marketing and advertising, might influence spending decisions for different individuals.
  • Determine the value of different types of discounts, promotions, and offers.
  • Analyze the psychological strategies used by brands and stores to entice you to buy. This course will help students in the future to make wise financial decisions that will benefit them and their families.

I want to thank the parents who attended the Principal Coffee Morning today. It was great to have a satisfying conversation that made me say things I have not said before. As a member of this learning community I have to ask myself what does the future need from us.

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal
