Middle School Principal’s Letter

Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. We’ve had a short week due to the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday.

We would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving! ( Even if you don’t celebrate the day.)

November is all about giving “Thanks” and the PTO would like to extend their immense gratitude to all who donated to the General Support Staff lunch, organized by Ms. Ereeny Gawdat. As usual, our wonderful parents came out in full force and contributed LE115,600. We were able to provide 174 hearty family-size meals for each of our community’s invaluable support staff to take home and enjoy with their loved ones.

This wouldn’t be possible without the support of the following tireless volunteers:

Riham K. Al_Ashi
Ericka Gallagher
Sarah El Derini
Jehan Agha
Mala Bardis
Nina Vuong
Salma Zaky
Hala Tatanaki
Shereefa Elsawaf
Emily Vogel
Randa Istanbouli
Niall Williams
Mary Greiss
Ghada Hany
Marianne Fahmy
Fides Urbiztondo
Ghada A. El Enin
Hanan Sedky

HS Students

A big shout out to Fresh and Co (ES and HS Food vendor) who prepared and packaged 174 meals giving us a fantastic deal. We couldn’t have done it without you.

Moreover, the students participated in the CISSA tournament last weekend where they proudly represented CAC. Congratulations to coach Deakin, coach Kramer, coach Vogel, and coach Villafuerte! Your dedication to our athletes is greatly appreciated.

The World Scholars Cup Participants included: Abdu El-Naggar, Kamal Sika, Omar Kamal, Sophie Senna, Julian Gonzalez, Nayer Haggag, Kasra Feizzadeh, Ellie Koo (HS), and Marwan Haggag (HS).

Our team was joined by both Isaac T. (from last year) and Chad Luck (from last year)

Highlights:

Abdu El-Naggar placed 13th overall in the Junior Division.

Nayer, Omar, and Kamal placed 10th overall in the Mediterranean region, Jr. Division

Julian was our highest-honored Jr. writer winning a gold medal for his effort.

Kasra, Julian, and Sophie combined their talents for a silver team medal in the Jr. division for writing.

The debate was our strongest area: Silver medals for Kasra, Sophie, and Julian. Nayer, Kamal, and Omar were awarded gold medals. Gold medals and a team trophy were awarded to Abdu’s team, and they finished 5th overall in the Jr. division.

The Team Scholar’s Challenge saw Kasra, Julian, and Sophie with silver medals. Abdu, Nayer, Kamal, and Omar each took a gold medal. Congratulations to our World Scholars Cup, student-athletes, and their coaches Mr. Kasal and Ms. Nolasco.

Thank you for your continuous support of Middle School.

In Partnership,

In The Memory of Ms. Sandra Gamal
CAC community members leave their marks on the learning experience, in all kinds of ways. This week, CAC commemorated one of its longest serving staff members, the late Ms. Sandra Gamal, and celebrated our library history with an art piece placed at the entrance of the MHS library where she worked for 40 years as Head of Library for ES/MS/HS. We are delighted that her CAC alumni sons were able to join us in a small celebration along with other current and previous CAC community members.

To learn more about the symbols behind the artpiece and the library, please watch the video below, which includes a student interview with Mr. Ahmed Marzouk, our Design Tech instructor, and creator of the art piece.

Please come visit their Bake Sale booths in the MS during lunch on Tuesday, Nov. 29th to purchase delicious treats. All funds will be used to purchase essential gifts for the African Hope students.

This year, we want to add books too. Please donate children’s books in good condition for kids ranging from kindergarten up to eighth grade. Girls Get Strong
This year’s Girls Get Strong event will take place on Saturday, December 3rd, from 8 am-2 pm. The theme of this years event is “All Day, Every Day” and was selected by the GGS Student Leadership team after a thoughtful discussion on how to best empower our female students. This year’s theme reflects a commitment to help empower girls with the confidence, knowledge, inspiration, leadership, and strength to live a healthy lifestyle every day of the year.

Registration for this year’s event closes on Sunday, November 27th. The event is free for all female students at CAC in grades 5-12, thanks to a generous donation by the Booster Club and our community sponsors. Each participant will be provided with a conference t-shirt and lunch. More details about the event schedule and activities can be viewed on the conference website https://girlsgetstrong.org/2022-2023-conference/.

As this is a community event, volunteers are needed to help with the registration process and oversee the various activities throughout the day. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Ms. Riddle at rriddle@cacegypt.org.

All Pro Dad for 14 December
Calling All CAC Middle School Students and Parents:
Help us closeout the year by spending an hour with us at the next CAC All Pro Dad event! You will be happy you did!
December’s topic is Generosity. Most people live life looking to take rather than give, but being generous is an important attribute to teach and model for our children. Giving can fuel general happiness and wellbeing not only in the person we help, but also in ourselves. Generosity demonstrates that we truly value others and are willing to reach out and meet their needs.
The next gathering is scheduled for 14 December at 7:00 am in Room 115 and we would love to see you there.
Breakfast, donuts and juice, will be provided.
If you would like to come, please RSVP here: https://allprodadchapters.com/chapters/13407
For more information or questions, contact our team captain, Craig Tippins, at this email: AllProDadCAC@gmail.com
