Middle School Principal’s Letter
Dear Parents,
Thank you for taking the time to read this week’s version of the News and Views. It was a busy week of teaching, learning, and having fun.
The grade eight Language Arts students created a News Ballard. Here is a sample of their work.
In grade six, Math students learned how to solve one-step equations using inverse operations.
I want to thank the parents who decorated our front gate with the beautiful Ramadan lantern.
Your time and effort are greatly appreciated.
We had parent-teacher conferences this week, and it was well attended. We hope the conferences allowed you to know how your child has progressed up to now and what they need to work on to finish the year on a positive note. We encourage the students to accompany parents because they need to hear firsthand from their teachers how they are progressing as a learner.
A reminder that next week, on Wednesday, the Principal Coffee morning will feature our keynote speaker Mr. Tony Nicholson. If you want to learn more about Tony his a recent article From China to Cambridge and Hollywood.
At the launch of the program 15 years ago, CAC provided a computer for students in all grades; however, responding to the ubiquitous nature of laptops at this time, we are pivoting grade by grade to a Bring Your Own Device Model (BYOD). This model will give MS students more agency in laptop choice, software preferences, and computer settings.
During the 2022-2023 school year, 8th graders were required to bring their laptops, while students in grades 6 and 7 were still provided a laptop owned by CAC. In the 2023-24, grade 7 students will be required to bring their laptops, and finally, during the 2024-25 school year, all CAC MS students will be required to bring their laptops.
The school will also provide a Macbook leasing program for families not ready to enable their children with a personal computer. If you would like more information, please contact Carlos Bustamante, CAC Director of Technology.
Thank you for your continuous support.
In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey

Calling All CAC Middle School Students and Parents
Join us for the next CAC All Pro Dad event! Siblings are welcome to attend!
April’s topic is Leadership. Being a leader means seeing something that needs to be done and bringing people together to do it. A leader serves, gives directions, and inspires others to reach a goal. As an All Pro Dad, you are the leader of your home. The example of leadership you display is invaluable for teaching your children how to be leaders.
The next event is 18 April at 7:00 am in Middle School Room 115. We look forward to seeing you!
Breakfast, donuts and juice, will be provided.

Continue to develop community practices within the home to increase your confidence as a parent and develop a plan for those (inevitable) challenging times. Learn practical tools and habits that anyone – a caregiver or not – can apply to their lives.
This 4-part series will explore effective communication, child development, wellbeing, behavioral psychology, and positive parenting as a way to create an environment where children (and adults) are encouraged and engaged, and feel a sense of connection, value and belonging.
