Middle School Principal’s Letter

Dear Parents,

Thank you for reading this week’s News and Views. After two full weeks of teaching and learning, it’s great to see students settling back into their routines.

A big thank you to all the parents who attended Back to School Night. Your notes meant a lot to the students when they received them in advisory on Wednesday morning. It was also wonderful to see so many dads in attendance at this once-a-year event.

On Tuesday morning, we held a Digital Well-Being session for grade-six parents. The dopamine culture we live in significantly impacts teens, often leading to increased stress and anxiety. Constant connectivity through social media and digital devices exposes them to a barrage of information and peer comparisons, which can affect their self- esteem and mental health. If you missed it, the presentation is available on the CAC dashboard.

Next week, we begin MAP testing. On Sunday, students will take the Language Usage test, followed by Reading on Monday and Math on Wednesday. You can support your child by ensuring they get enough sleep, eat breakfast, bring a reusable water bottle, and have a snack. We want them to do their best without feeling anxious. You can read more details here.

Lastly, on September 12th, we’ll host the Welcome Back Social from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. after school. This is a great opportunity for students to bond and make new friends, and it promises to be an evening of fun!

Thank you for your continuous support of the middle school.

In Partnership,
Courtney Bailey
The Middle School Principal
